Yep. Same thing happened to me.  Light blemishes right in the middle of it and some cracked paint on one of the edges.  Although it was shipped direct from Maya's studio.  They were rather quick in resolving the issue.  Sent them some pics and they told me to send it back.  Received my replacement yesterday but I haven't checked to see if everything is ok yet.

thanks.  i got a response from LSC gallery.  they said the LPs came wrapped so there was no way to inspect them prior to shipping.  they offered a refund, but not a replacement.  i contacted maya's studio directly and am waiting on a response.  would really like to get one (undamaged).  hard to justify the price tag on something that is damaged.  hopefully they have one that they can inspect prior to shipping.  fingers crossed.

Mine arrived damaged and they have refunded me already. They are sorting the return shipping as well.
They don't seem to have their house in order regarding quality control & shipping.

As someone with quite a lot of experience of screen printing, I have to say that going by what I can see of these photos and the angle/direction of these marks, that they were likely to have been made during the printing process and possibly not to be regarded as damage.

When you create the paints / inks you need to mix the colour with a printing medium to help ease the paint through the mesh of the screen (amongst other things). Sometimes the medium and paint don't always entirely mix, which can leave 'imperfect' marks with the application of colour. But screen printing is not an exact science and it's the influence and participation of the artist and/or the printer that normally makes each screen print slightly unique.

I hope you don't take this the wrong way because your concern is entirely justified, I just want to put this point across from the point of view of a print maker. If my choice was of a refund or keep I would definitely opt for the later.

thank you for your perspective.  however, there is a dirt/smudge which i 100% know is not part of the printing process.  as for the other blemishes and ink disturbances, my initial thought was that the LPs were stacked and slid around a bit.  the blemishes are centralized on mine as are others (kind of where the circle of the LP is which could put pressure points on the ink/paper.  in addition, the blemishes go across colors so it appears to be a post printing issue.  i could be wrong.

if this were a $40 LP, i wouldn't have even raised a concern to them.  however, shelling out a couple hundred dollars, i had somewhat higher expectations.

Luckily mine is OK but I do wonder why this LP edition was ever created given that 80 of the larger Meta Multiverses 2 had to be printed and then cut down. Was there a cock up in the original print run that left them having to think creatively? Suspect we'll never know.

Interestingly, I've had masses more Instagram likes for my pic of the Pilar than any of the MH pieces I took at the NYC show or my other MH prints. It's nice but nowhere near Very X, Multiverses etc

What a load of bollocks. It is evident from the full size print edition of 30 that the artwork was intended to look a certain way and from the pictures of the one above and of another that I have seen, some of these LP covers are completely f**ked. It wouldn't be acceptable at $20, never mind $300.

Have a feeling the scuffs are caused during the process of folding the 4 flaps, presumably through a machine.

Have to say the quality of finishing of the record leaves much to be desired at that price - not that I like the music on it in the first place.

I think I can comment on this, given that I've now seen 3 versions of this image in person from 3 different sources (bought a MV2 which arrived damaged from Kayrock, after that I bought a MV2 Color Trial Proof from Maya's studio which arrived perfect, and bought a Pilar, which arrived yesterday).

My take on the Pilar when I opened it yesterday:
- Some of the 'blemishes' are not actually blemishes, and are inherent in the print. I saw the same in all 3 versions, and they add to the character. It would be hard to tell that if you hadn't seen multiple versions.
- Some of the blemishes are an acceptable result of printing, cutting and folding processes, that I would have been fine with (mostly light surface marks, even one folded corner on the inside that I was probably ok with).
- Some of the blemishes are hard to accept, given the cost (for me, the record had punched through the fold on one side to create a tear in the seam).

I would have been fine with a lot of unexpected stuff on this piece, but I think I'll have to send it back because of the tear. A damn shame, as I think this piece will look dynamite in a large white square frame, and I was looking forward to having it up. To those on the fence, consider keeping and framing. It'll be just awesome.

FWIW, LSC packed what they could control *incredibly* well - layer upon payer of protection, and have been 100 percent professional in dealing with issues before. I'll buy from them again in a heartbeat.

I agree with what you said cashewman. I was lucky to pick mine up in person and even then I had them sort through a couple to find one that seemed perfect and those had been brought in a giant box with them.

I got an MV2 from LSC and can say they packed it perfectly. The framer was really impressed, no imperfections at all.

I agree that LSC have packed the LP's well (layers of protection in a decent box etc) but the problem is here (which I have cut & paste from a post above): "….response from LSC gallery. they said the LPs came wrapped so there was no way to inspect them prior to shipping" - if you are selling a product you need to make sure it's perfect before you package it up and ship it out.

They had issues with the MULTIVERSES #2 print packaging with lots of them arriving ruined…..not going well for them which is a shame as they are great to deal with.

From memory the badly packaged prints that got ruined during transit weren't sent from LSC but some other outlet.

It wasn't LSC that messed up the MV2 prints - in fact theirs were apparently perfect.

Unfortunately you understand it incorrectly - they were selling them as they offered me one.
For the record I think they are great - just need a bit of quality control.
