Incredible pieces, prices are high but I think maya has got so much momentum at present she could become much bigger than she already is.

It is a shame because prices are running away, but there is a reason - she has global collector base who are willing to pay up for the quality of her work.

Her originals are truly stunning, and welcome to urban art scene.

That's where I saw it last as well. And I think the framed copy went for $1500 last I saw.

Those were the prices points I saw the auctions at, but I don't know that they actually finished. Kind of strange we haven't seen a few more up for sale.

I think Paddle 8 is not a good reference point, at least in this case. Maybe because of the fact that some auctions are benefits or maybe because of shannanigans. I think I remeber one of her multiverses having a 10,000 high estimate and selling for 20,000 (much more than gallery) on paddle 8 (still, if you are a collector I think this is good news). 20,000 seems like so much that now Im doubting myself, but I could have sworn.

And if you pay 1,500 for a print, you might as well triple up and look for a cheap 1/1 original.


I personally broke the piggy bank and bought one of the pieces from the last show.

The $800 was for Pangaea yesterday. Multiverses was ended at $850 before they canceled the listing and substituted Pangaea for it.

Wow $800 for Pangea that is high given that is one of her weaker pieces and I think a gallery in the US still had a old for sale in the 200-500 dollar area iirc.  It's an ok piece but I wo
uldn pay up for it.

Certainly think money is better spent on her X style pieces as they are her best works and pretty timeless, from a collecting perspective.

That works for an edition of 50 or 70 or something. But I found two soundsystems in the last couple of months that were about $1200 each. One is an AP of Space Soundsystem I think (purple colours) 1/1 and one is a Colour Test of 19 but original in it's colours. The APs I think are much better value at that price. Worth holding out for APs/CTs if an original is too pricey!

I would first try for a canvas or board, there are probably deals to be made. But I agree those prints are very nice, and if they are as rare as yours, then it might be worth it.
Then again, I know you also have an original yourself (saw it in the new art thread), so the prints are a great addition to the collection.

BTW, Do you prefer galleries or individuals?

Personally found (with MH anyway) that galleries are much better than second hand market, especially in terms of availability. But whereas gallery prices were lower, in the last few weeks the prices seem to have pushed ahead of the secondary market. I'm quite new to it all and kind of surprised at how fast things move!... I did buy one piece off here which was an X colour trial, so stuff does come up but people don't like to let go of her work at the moment.
