Visit SHANGHAI π¨π³ China Street Art, Galleries, Events, by graffuturism on Nov 20, 2014 8:45:35 GMT 1, It was a hidden abandandoned area near a small street market where they sell antiques in xintiandi. No idea what roads but it was an amazing place Katre also installed some pieces and they might have also taken Seth their. I posted some pictures also in the Look Through thread that has a building you might be able to use as a guide if you know the area.

I posted some pictures also in the Look Through thread that has a building you might be able to use as a guide if you know the area. Perfect, know exactly where to look, thanks again. For anyone visiting it is around Dongtai Road (where the 'antique' market is), probably near Hubin Road which runs off a small lake behind Xintiandi (the lake is between the market and Xintiandi). The old houses in the area have been/are in the process of being knocked down to make space for new luxury apartments and shops a la Xintiandi style which is a real shame, was a great area to walk around with a friendly community who have lived there for decades (who have now been relocated/given money to leave).

Did you make it over there, I have been seeing some great photos of Seth painting the spot but the pics are private and I am not sure I can share them yet as he might be still around China. Really good work in that whole spot now from what I have seen.

Visit SHANGHAI π¨π³ China Street Art, Galleries, Events, by dreadnatty on May 23, 2015 3:32:17 GMT 1, On May 23rd in Shanghai, Magda Danysz will be hosting a new show from Liu Bolin entitled The Distance To The Eyes, his third solo with the gallery. The series of new photographs which includes the Chinese artist painted over and blending into the scenery (as per his usual technique), see him taking a provocative turn with his work by hacking institutional websites where some images have been changed with him hiding in the image. The clever new series is like a performance inside the worldwide web.
He further states β βWith this new step I am no longer the βInvisible Manβ, I am more an art whistleblower trying to raise the awareness of people about the power of images. There is always a deeper meaning to an image, it questions the human soul and spirit. In this new series I challenge the power of the images changing the original ones. It is an attempt to start a war against the images.β

Visit SHANGHAI π¨π³ China Street Art, Galleries, Events, by 11 on May 26, 2015 21:32:48 GMT 1, Just dropped in my mailbox - I assume he means May in his text as that what the poster says and he does say 'this Thursday'
=======
From this Thursday, June 28th, Iβll be working on and showing an installation called βFuturamaβ at the Power Station of Art Museum (PSA) in Shanghai. Itβs a place I was amazed by when I first visit China and now itβs time for me to show inside and enter the Institutional Chinese Contemporary Art. On June 30th, for the International Childrenβs Day, a workshop will be organized by the PSA to focus on a βvisual discussionβ in-between my work and Yona Friedmanβs research on architecture and mobility.
And... Mid-June, Iβll have my first Japanese project space exhibition at Parco Shibuya in the center of Tokyo. (more info to comeβ¦)
This month, after a huge 30 meters wall in VΓΆlklingen Museum, followed up with the publishing of my first book βDualityβ by French Publisher Gallimard, followed by two installations commissioned by the city of Paris next to the Orsay Museum and Seine River, is ending with amazing new adventures...
All the Best, Ludo

Visit SHANGHAI π¨π³ China Street Art, Galleries, Events, by mac on Jun 28, 2017 3:10:56 GMT 1, M50 is probably a good place to start as there are a number for galleries to check out. The Power Station of Art, Yuz Musuem and Long Museum are worth a visit - there is the much smaller Propaganda Poster Museum (which is in the basement of a tower block in the Former French Concession) that is also worth a look-in. I would also recommend dropping by Art Labor. I find the below websites useful and they should list upcoming art exhibitions and events (smartshanghai and timeoutshanghai are probably the best - they also have good restaurant / bar / club reviews etc.).

Shanghai has come a long way over the last few years with regards art / galleries & museums - hope this helps to get you started. Enjoy and be prepared for seriously hot and humid weather...

Visit SHANGHAI π¨π³ China Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Extra Ball on Jan 17, 2020 9:18:58 GMT 1, thank you for your information brillobox. I suspect that we must be very careful about counterfeits but I thought I would find serious shops with authentic pieces. I do not know if it is like in some Asian countries or they are state stores which issue documents for the customs services. Thanks again for your information.
