Was that black on black Vandalism print for sale at the opening? I could leave the rest, but that looks rather nice IMO. I'd be interested in the price on that.

Better executed? They are both as bad as each other. There are so many good artists out there I just can't stand this meaningless boring bowler hatted tosh.

New Nick Walker, by johnnyh on Oct 18, 2014 1:55:57 GMT 1, Think he has regardless of whether people like or dislike kind of done a retrospective of his Vandal persona/concept which I assume is to marry with his book release.
A lot of these are re workings and flavours of earlier pieces so of which did not include the vandal image etc.
So think t his is really a retrospective type show rather than supposed to be all new.

The book tells a very different story of the artist, to that portrayed on here.
Perhaps some of the forum "experts" should take a look.

Just to clarify what I wrote earlier - The piece with the "rays" coming out of his chest is not even part of the show.
Don't believe everything you read or see on Gothamist. I was there.
In fact, 7 of the photos in the Gothamist article do not relate to pieces in the current show. & I don't believe Gothamist ever said they were.

True but I think the plain black of gagnon actually looks better. On nicks the guy has the hairy hand syndrome again, the face looks terrible and what's the point of rays coming out of a guy other than to add some pretty colours?. Too many artists keep knocking out images of a guy/girl scrawling something on a wall. Yes banksy did it too but at least he did it with flair. I will never forget going to nicks (last?) show in London and being extremely disappointed with the work. Can can girls in burkas, fat Buddhas eating cake etc, the ideas were half baked and the execution was terrible IMO.
Anyway good luck to the guy I just don't see the point of his art. I would still buy Tma empire though if I had lots of spare money.

New Nick Walker, by dazarino on Oct 18, 2014 12:11:12 GMT 1, That's an interesting article.quite agree about him flooding the market with work.I think that's what will make daleast or roa even more successful as they dont really do many commission pieces. I bet nicks experience and knowledge with the art market is priceless and could help all aspiring young street artists become successful. I know chris moon who only sells pieces at his shows is really doing well now.Liam from beautiful crime told me chris refused to paint a piece for Harry styles, so Harry now has to get in line or pay auction prices.
a piece from his last 2014 show cost £3500 (or something like that) went for $50,000 last month at auction ...it's all a game

New Nick Walker, by Dibbs 45 on Oct 19, 2014 19:01:25 GMT 1, The Bowler hatted man how dull. An image that has been pilfered from a lineage of Andre Breton, Rene Magritte and probably more dadarists and surrealists along the way. Now churned out once more by Nick Walker and Martin Whatson and anyone else who can't think of a new direction. How long do we have to endure these plagiarised images, coupled with a vandal and a covered face. If people lap it up then they will keep doing it and not progress their repertoire. Just my opinion. If you like it then thats fine but I like to see artists move on, and this is just not my cup of rosy lee.

New Nick Walker, by maddoghoek100 on Oct 20, 2014 0:18:07 GMT 1, Nick was putting a lot of work into each one for $100, they are a real bargain in my mind. I grabbed this Love Vandal. Highly recommend anyone in the area that is a fan go in and pick one up. they are almost mini-canvases with this level of work. I will be putting mine in a box frame and hanging it for sure.
BTW, the some of the unique gotham vandal prints are realy nice. the purple was a bit of a miss for me int he main edition, but there are some metallic unique that really pop. If you were on the fence after seeing photos you might want to drop a line to them and ask about the 1 of 1s to see if one hits the spot.
