Design Museum has joined forces with Beefeater 24 to celebrate the fearlessly progressive spirit of Londonβs greatest creative minds, past and present. At the heart of the exhibition are fifteen commissions from some of Londonβs most dynamic creatives, as a group they demonstrate the diverse approaches to design in London. Among the participants in the exhibition are Zaha Hadid, Tom Dixon, Paul Smith and others.
Paul Smith created a rabbit rubbish bin for the city of London. The βNew London Rubbish Binβ will be popping up in Covent Garden and Holland Park for a four-month trial period from 28th May. The giant rabbit bins, with ears that light up when anyone puts rubbish in them, are Paul Smithβs contribution to Super Contemporary β an exhibition which opens on 3rd June 2009 at the Design Museum.

MANCHESTER UNITED are hoping that designer Sir Paul Smith will be their good luck charm tomorrow, as they arrive in Rome wearing suits by the iconic British designer ahead of their Champions League Final against Barcelona.
United first wore suits by Paul Smith at last year's European Cup Final in Moscow - which the club won on penalties. This year, Smith has created two suits - one in a grey Prince of Wales check and the other in black wool - which both feature specially created red lining and stripe piping, accompanied by a black raincoat and luggage set for each player.
"It is exciting to be involved with Manchester United," Sir Paul Smith said. "They have such an international fan base and I know our customers in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong in fact all South East Asia, Europe and the US will be interested in the partnership. It has been an honour designing and supplying suits for the team."
"It's a fantastic partnership with Sir Paul," Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson affirmed. "The suits look great and it's a company that we work well with. They're at the top of their industry, producing quality and always looking to innovate."

Paul Smith shirting fabric stretched over padded wooden frames ready to hang. I bought the piece(s) in 2003 from an online company called Funky Blox (http://www.ukshopsearch.com/funky-blox-at-fabric-fads/6315/) that doesn't appear to exist any more. They used to have a shop at Merton Abbey Mills in South London. They sourced the shirting fabric direct from Paul Smith and made the artwork.
