Do you collect Sculptures?, by snelj8 on May 15, 2009 15:40:09 GMT 1, This may not be in topic with gallery news, but does anyone collect sculpture art in addition to canvases and prints? Would love to see some pics and know the "who's who" on this and whether there are any artists that cater to this scene.
Btw, I lost the name - but there is one artist who creates pieces from scrap metals and scrap parts and caught the attention of I think either Hirst or Saatchi. Does anyone know who this may be?
Thanks!

Each piece being of the same colour but having different tonal values, its probably TONY CRAGG

Do you collect Sculptures?, by skylarkin on May 17, 2009 13:31:22 GMT 1, anyways, anyone else have pieces to share??
I havent collected any, but more due to nothing having caught my eye at the moment. Some of my fav 'Sculpture art' is similar in taste to my street art taste. for example Ronzo's Ed Van tag make sme smile
I like things that have been left with no explination or reason other than for effect. Whether the effect is to make you laugh or hurle chunks. Guess thats why I like Banksys stuff. Isnt necessarily the art that does it for me, but collecting something that made me smile on a certain day and being reminded of that feeling when i see it on my wall.
There are some great examples from people putting up false plaques on bridges remembering occasions that never happened to peopel replacing traffic light walkers with dancers and animals. Silly stuff really. But all that said im also a keen admirer of Bronzes (not animals) they do it for me...is that sad..?

Do you collect Sculptures?, by smallbylo on May 20, 2009 18:32:24 GMT 1, Mark Jenkins is one name to remember! and Invader is another one!
Jenkins pieces are amazing in the streets, but their brutal (in the positive and negative) impact to the people slows down when you put the piece inside home... The same with invader. (the same with almost everyone we love?)
Laz has pieces from both
You can buy Jenkins in Carmichael too
but If you like Jenkins, you've got to have a big home or no furniture.

We think Ptolemy's work is stunning. It is all made out of hubcaps he has found by the roadside. We showed some of his creatures at The Babylon Academy at Piccadilly Circus in December:

To start the ball rolling here is mine one of marc jenkins flower signs. Will add more if there is interest.Oh by the way if a thread like this already exists I will delete and Mr. Silky can redirect.
