Banksy u/s Flag, by johnnyh on Jun 16, 2014 17:38:18 GMT 1, Really that's very surprising.....you must pay well the amount of Banksy's she's been buying
Either that or she is running her own flipping business.....not nice for a gallery employee targeting your customer base
One would obviously assume she is not buying on behalf of the gallery under a private individual name......especially as you have a gallery account that would be very underhand
But I doubt you would stoop that low
.
Do let us know!!!

Banksy u/s Flag, by HangUp on Jun 16, 2014 18:29:00 GMT 1, We only have one login for Hang-Up so she has her own account as there are different staff members who may wish to post. I am not sure how it matters whether she is buying on behalf of a gallery or not but clearly it has touched a nerve and perhaps I am mis-informed on this matter. No offence was intended and we were certainly not being 'underhand' nor is anyone running a 'flipping business'. In future we will make sure that posts are clearer. We have conducted numerous transactions with forum members since 2008 and never had any issues as I am sure members on here will vouch. We buy numerous Banksy editions each week and pay fair prices for those looking to sell as again many people on here will vouch. We also contribute to this forum weekly with blog posts from 'On The Streets' and general exhibition news

Banksy u/s Flag, by DrWhite on Jun 16, 2014 18:43:37 GMT 1, I will have to admit that Howard at hangup was a straight up guy when I dealt with him, completely hassle free deal. I'd be quick enough to say if I felt I'd been poorly treated, so only fair to confirm I had a great experience. I can confirm I replied to a wanted post under the gallery user name. I'd have been a lot less satisfied if I'd have thought I was dealing with a gallery posing as a private buyer though, so I fully support the point being made in this post - we appreciate complete openness & transparency on here.

Although Howard not wanting to hide etc personal account etc. but 1) could have been called Hang up 2 or could have been in the note below her name but both these prions were ignored 2) when called out on it a couple of threads ago both you and she ignored it rather than putting it right. In fact she ignored it and posted another wanted thread. So your upset at being called out but I would say you and your staff not junior from all accounts have had plenty of opportunity to solve but code to ignore because you thought good for business. I kinda hope my Posts highlight actually it's not. Open and honest is better. I am pretty sure your nice when selling but the point being raised is why you hide this way when buying.
You guys are not Posting buys everyday so how hard to create hang up2 or get her to say Howard it's a bit request for this
Neither seems difficult in my book so I would say don't try and call me out when it is you guys who are being a bit naughty. May be a bit of honesty would be good from you as a gallery. You have seen the previous posts why did neither of you respond?

Banksy u/s Flag, by HangUp on Jun 16, 2014 19:21:52 GMT 1, There really is no exciting sub-plot to this, we are not trying to withhold our identity. Its actually the opposite, we are proud of our brand and gallery and we are totally open about it!
Again I am sure anyone who has dealt with any post from Miss Urbanite will vouch for this We provide the gallery number/email/address and request that the works are delivered to the gallery.
I do not think a gallery can have Hang-Up 1 , Hang-Up 2 etc as accounts but your points are all noted and we will only use this account for any 'Art Wanted' posts moving forward . I am truly sorry that this seems to rile you so much. If you are still not satisfied with the response and would like to call me at the gallery we can discuss this ( PM your number and I will be happy to talk this through and answer any questions) otherwise I am not really sure what else we can say here.
Peace

Banksy u/s Flag, by johnnyh on Jun 16, 2014 19:32:44 GMT 1, As say and have said. No problems with galleries or yours till this but do think you guys should have been up front that it is a gallery buying. So again plenty of posts on this which you and your staff chose to ignore.
You want to call me out if you want me to tell you what you could have done I will ....it's not difficult and you very well know it.
It's easily solved by you guys acting properly you have been on here long enough. So it's no great surprise Likewise this has been mentioned on a couple of threads which was ignored... You can say you did not see them but not sure she can ......so as mentioned why was there no response
Glad you are changing to stop this

Why do you always have to be a tool ?
Why am I being a tool?? Members on here should know who their selling too and likewise know who they are buying from.....is a bit of honesty such a bad thing?
This could have been solved threads ago and it was not me who identified Hang up but another Member who I am sure is a tool in your book.
Likewise have you actually read the oat you said "same to" it quite clearly stated he also would not have been as happy if dealing that way.

Banksy u/s Flag, by Dungle on Jun 16, 2014 20:10:58 GMT 1, I'm all for clarity and honesty, but why do people care if they are selling to a gallery or individual as long as they are getting the amount they want?

I am not saying they do or they don't just think they should know who they are buying from or selling to.
each individual will then make their own mind up. Think that's fair enough or why have gallery, individual, artist listing's...
but they are a gallery and have hidden the fact why? That's the question is it because a lot of their buyers come from here may be.
Howard says not hidden but does not ring true. No response when called out. if you look at Howard's want to buy posts not only under hang up but also contain his hang up email.
Strangely not one of her 58 odd posts mainly want to buy does she mention Hang up once which is a bit weird Just wonder why?

Peace I dealt with her and I do not vouch for her. I dealt with her in two occassions and was very disappointed both times.
Sorry. I completely agree with johnnyh on this. I can probably say I was the one screaming aloud that missurbanite was hang-up. She tried to buy one banksy print off me offering me exactly 1k less than the price she had on the gallery. Then, two are the possibilities: or she was trying to rip me off, or you constantly rip people off with your hyped prices. (at the time I did not know she was a gallery and she did not state it either)
Moreover, I am one of those that in the past asked for a work by one particular artist, got a reply that they were able to get one soon thanks to their "network of trusted collectors"....just to see their WTB popping up few minutes after my request...obviously all the prices were increased by exactly 500 pounds.
If this is not the "flipping business" then tell me what is that.
And I really think that defending this type of behavior can only be done out of convenience. Since I cannot care less, and I will always prefer to buy from much better galleries such as PA, Castle and Lawrence Alkin, I can state my opinion without constraints.

Banksy u/s Flag, by Deleted on Jun 18, 2014 7:59:30 GMT 1, Ahaha !!! All people in the Banksy business are into a flipping business !! I think Johnnyh and others are correct having multiple accounts or playing multiple cards using pseudo suck. But then in the other side, I don't see any difference between individuals buying/selling/flipping through gallery and individuals buying/selling through auctions... someone here sold a Banksy at record price in auctions and got two page of congratulations, it makes me wonder where is the line ?

Banksy u/s Flag, by tschero on Jun 23, 2014 20:57:59 GMT 1, I agree with previous views that it should be clearly stated if someone acts on behalf of a gallery and not been pretended that someone is buying p.a. As some people on here might let something a touch cheaper go to help out another collector and clearly will feel cheated when it turns out to be a reselling gallery.
Think hang up got the message and hopefully going forward will act professional and not let down their brand

Banksy u/s Flag, by met on Jul 19, 2014 4:11:29 GMT 1, I will have to admit that Howard at hangup was a straight up guy when I dealt with him, completely hassle free deal. During your communications, were you encouraged or led to believe Howard was a real person?
In case the name were being used pseudonymously, would that affect your level of satisfaction? If so, could this game-playing be considered "all in good fun", or does it instead suggest an inclination by the gallery to be less than transparent?
I ask because it's my understanding Howard is the gallery cat.
That said, I have seen cats do remarkable things on YouTube. And as I've never had dealings with Howard, I'm in no position to comment on his typing and negotiation skills — both of which may well be most impressive.
