The Art Damien Hirst Stole, by Deleted on Jan 24, 2014 13:39:25 GMT 1, It's like saying no one can ever use a cow, a circle or a mandala in their art again. A taxidermy shark is very different then a shark in formaldehyde. Feels like someone wants some attentions by talking about Hirst. Most art pieces are based on previous works of art. During the whole middle ages everyone was doing the same. meh It could look like the Stuckists are bitter but they are not. They are just giving some facts.
Old symbols and out of copyright images are used all the time by artists. It's true that a lot of art is derivative but people should be knowledgeable enough to see through bullshit and hype when it's in front of them.
Hirst, Koons and Fairey have been done for plagiarism as far as I know.
Brainwash is a copy cat no talent gimmick merchant in my book.
As for attention seeking.
It's coke head Hirst who is the massive attention seeker if one looks at his interviews.
A dead shark is a dead shark.
I agree about dots being dots and people like Dali and others used dots in art long ago.
Hirst did trademark his dots or try to and threw his toys out of his pram when an airline painted some dots on one of their aircraft moaning about copyright etc.
I don't know if the people that buy into the Britart hype or bought into it care or know about art or just want to be part of the latest in crowd.
Here is a better dead shark artwork made in 86 by Bill Heine.
