Shepard Fairey Catalog, by sin on Jan 22, 2014 18:10:22 GMT 1, Forgive me if this is in the wrong place.
A local (Miami) gallery put together a strong secondary market show. hosted-p0.vresp.com/1170183/76014b1d69/ARCHIVE
There is the link to the catalog. Some really exciting late 90's early 00's pieces in there.
Enjoy

Shepard Fairey Catalog, by sin on Jan 22, 2014 20:14:26 GMT 1, Gregg isnt directed to Carmichael that I am aware of, thought I'm not privy to his sourcing and couldnt say specifically yes or no.
toobs - Do you have to reduce things to name calling. If you dont like what someone has something priced at thats entirely your perogative however calling someone, particularly someone who is a successful dealer a nitwit, isnt really called for is it?

Shepard Fairey Catalog, by toobs on Jan 22, 2014 22:24:38 GMT 1, yes, calling someone silly for charging absurd amounts of money for something that can be found for significantly less elsewhere is ok in my book, and thwarts people on this and other forums from wasting there time to inquire on a piece they may want, which i did earlier, i would say 90% that frequent these forums have a ballpark avg price what these pieces should sell for . . . the prices on some of the prints i asked about where in another galaxy, everything was well over going rates from other galleries (and ebay) who have similar pieces

Shepard Fairey Catalog, by daveart on Jan 23, 2014 4:17:44 GMT 1, my free 2cents take it or leave it opinion.
people are somehow confusing buying something site un seen .. from potentially sketchy ebay sellers .. using bad tubes.. cheap shipping.. no insurance and a potential heart ache..
With
A very classy environment in a true mecca of street art - the heart of wynwood district miami. I have been to the neighborhood.. been to the gallery.. met the gallery owner .. i don't begrudge him any pricing he wants to put on these. note that they are framed. guaranteed to be pristine. fun to look at a huge collection all in one place.. its air conditioned .. and a block from some of the coolest street art murals anywhere.
can you spot the difference now ? ha ha .. ok.. i am not a good comic. well anyway, It would take a good long time to assemble these on your own. are the prices high. absolutely. so what. don't go to miami. home of $20 beers, $40 parking spots, and multi million dollar condos. no one in miami is gonna cry if you pay $1500 for a framed piece of art that you think you can buy for $400 from someone on ebay.

Shepard Fairey Catalog, by sin on Jan 23, 2014 18:08:10 GMT 1, Thats a comedic explanation of the reality of serving two markets but it is valid at base. Gregg has a 20+ year history of serving an extremely high end clientele with Pop era works. Its Gregg's keen knowledge of this Pop era and its market that is one of my favorite things about our friendship. Its always nice to get to talk art with someone who knows a ton about something I dont.
Anyway, point being, that type of buyer is much different than any of the experts on here or EB, etc. So the more recent works may indeed be above what an expert market is willing to spend, but priced properly for what a retail buyer with different intent is willing to pay. Put simply, those buyers arent aware of the expresso beans 6 month average, or expresso beans at all and if they have ever been on EBay I would be shocked. They exist in a different world than your expert art print buyer. The older pieces however have far less of a delta between expert market prices and retail. While I am not a SF fan and dont collect it at all, I can appreciate the rareity and artistry of some these pre 2006 pieces and from some of the conversations Gregg and I had and the sales that happened on those works and by whom it would seem some collectors were exstatic to find them.

Shepard Fairey Catalog, by Happy Shopper on Jan 23, 2014 19:09:15 GMT 1, these guys are nitwits, i did a couple of inquires on some of the pieces and they are for thousands $$$ on pieces you can find on ebay for like 400-500 on the regular Out of curiosity, which did you enquire about?
I hadn't realised at first look, but many at the top of the list are "large format" versions and not the regular editions you find on eBay a lot. Could that be a reason for some of the apparent price differences?
But galleries generally charge more than ebay or personal sales... they have overheads, etc., and hopefully clients willing to pay !
