Something to make a few quid on.
Can't wait to see what he's got in store for us.
F**k perspex, ebay, angle grinders, prints, auction prices... Banksy knows the score, maybe he's hoping people see great images of our time, saying something (maybe not Nobel Peace Prize offerings) subtle, funny, clever, pertinent, poignant and apt to the world we all live in together. Reaching people that would never usually associate themselves as art gallery visitors... NY is the gallery and the private view was tonight.
I have always liked how he gets different messages across in a simple black and white stencil, the placement is always integral and a healthy sense of humour with a dash of irony dropped from a great height essential....
I wonder if there's going to be a theme or dialogue running through the show this month, it's kicked of with a couple of young, unruly ragamuffins from the Dickens era precariously trying to purloin the can of paint from the warning sign. Just wondering if it's going to be a chronological artbiography, starting from his early years and moving to the present day? Or just a collecting of random comments?
Anyways, my thoughts for the evening... looking forward to the October much more now.
