Xavier has said in an interview for this show that the merits and de-merits of ignorance are explored. For the child like ignorance that is endearing and often gets the most out of experiencing life through not having fear of social norms etc... On the flip side is the ignorance seen in adults...where it can limit your ability to experience life to the max.
A Sibyl - is a female prophet.
In the Sibyl that Michelangelo painted she is holding the book which foretells the coming of the Messiah.
By Blek removing the book and the context...Is he trying to say:
a) the book represents knowledge and therefore...by removing it...ignorance prevails?
b) or the book predicting the Messiah represents religion...and religion is ignorance?
Anyway, the show is called "Ignorance is Bliss"...so he is sticking to theme.
I maybe talking absolute bull in my ignorance!
Perhaps whoever is in NY for the show can ask him!

But throwing such a print with no interpretation clues, totally out of any context makes it hard to sell. At first sight it is just a B&W screenprinting of a famous Sixtine chapel painting by Michelangelo...

I much prefer he does these simple, one colour, figure stencils, than trying to do a "Banksy" but looking like MBW!
We all know he was doing this style before Banksy, so he should stick to his classic style, not add bad visual puns.

The image lacks reason there is no sense of purpose. Given its a small run
I am guessing there could be a hand finished element still to come.
Right now its looking like he found the background eraser in photoshop.
