Problems with Banksy Applause.., by snakes on Nov 17, 2007 12:30:33 GMT 1, Are most applause prints that have been kept in the original POW tubes since purchase knackered?
Its just that two that i have recently seen were so rippled you could have set up a roller coaster track on them due to that POW tubes seem too tight for such a large print.
Greatly appreaciate to hear the thought of others as this is a print that i quite like but bearing the above in mind a print that i would unlikely buy without a close inspection..

Problems with Banksy Applause.., by carl on Nov 17, 2007 16:40:39 GMT 1, I swapped one with a forum member , He had it framed and I can see ripples in it . I think you can flatten them out but it takes a bit of time. Gary the framer will know about this I think. I could slow traffic with mine if I took it out the frame (speed bump reference not ooh look at my banksy reference !)

Yip that works, I've wrapped a print in tissue paper, then put between two sheets of mdf.Added 4x20kg weight plates and left for a couple of days, came out perfect!

Problems with Banksy Applause.., by lastpost on Nov 18, 2007 0:26:53 GMT 1, Took mine to be framed today...could be a genius bit of framing or might end up mundane/crap! I tried to explain to the stand in, in the framers that it would have to be flattened for quite some time...she nodded as she rolled it up into a tight roll....hmm

Problems with Banksy Applause.., by Zippy on Nov 18, 2007 0:38:59 GMT 1, i still dont know if you are pulling my plonker!
you would actually iron one of your beloved prints? Do you use starch and fold it into 4 afterwards so it fits nicely in the cupboard drawers?

Problems with Banksy Applause.., by justinkase on Nov 18, 2007 0:53:06 GMT 1, Ironing works wonders. If you ever have a little crease or something, all you gotta do is iron that fucker out. Just be careful: low heat and I usually use a light towel in between. And make sure there's no water in your iron!!

Problems with Banksy Applause.., by pastiepie on Nov 18, 2007 9:54:25 GMT 1, A lot of the applause prints have ripples when framed as conservation framing does not stick the print down. With such a massive print and minimal pressure it's impossible for it to be completely flat. It's not as if the print is damaged though.

Problems with Banksy Applause.., by slowmo on Nov 18, 2007 12:37:30 GMT 1, Ripples on virtually every print I own over the 50x70 size, some of them too. Easily flattened out, but people do worry about them.
My flag is very rippled, would anyone suggest putting that between two bits of ply? Given the delicate nature of the process, might cause damage?

Of course you weren't serious. A trouser press is much quicker and easier.

Problems with Banksy Applause.., by curiousgeorge on Nov 18, 2007 17:08:10 GMT 1, Must mention before my iron touched anything, i went to art supplies shop and bought some art paper of various weights (a4 sheets), which i then added my own creases/damage too. Left the crease settle for 7-10 days then i ironed them out.
Tried that about 6 times before trying it on anything of value
