I've noticed a few Penny pieces going up for sale on this forum. I own a few myself. Unfortunately, I may need to let go of a piece or two, to make room for others, and wondered what others thought: How does Penny do on the secondary market? Have his prices gone consistently up, or has demand for his work waned? Any and all thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I would say penny's work generally stays around the release cost / release price on the single notes ! But his work on bigger edition notes generally is a bit higher !! Just my opinion

Early single notes have gone up to the current note release prices plus a bit more depending on image

Image as with most artists is everything, some larger (size) pieces will have gone up quite nicely others may be still around cost

Then re originals / one offs image is king, I've a couple of 1/1's that you'd need to throw quite a bit of cash at me to let go

Great, thanks much for the info. What images are considered most desirable? For instance, is Penny TV$ considered a classic or less desirable image in your opinion?

I have been collecting Penny for awhile now and tried to sell some of his pieces on the secondary market including a 1/1 commissioned original and everything I have sold by him was for less than cost.  Penny is a great artist but his appeal on the secondary market is very limited.

The naked or semi-naked ladies seem to be the most popular. My particular favourite is Beaten City but I seem to be in a minority on that one.

I could be wrong re which piece Wear is referencing to, but I think it was his "Pray" commission.  The edition is small and all versions are different colour ways, but they don't seem to have floated Penny fans in the same way some of the other pieces have.  I have one and love it, but would not expect it has moved upwards in value at all.

I have a one off commission of Thumbelina which I am sure has increased in value, possibly due to the fact it has a naked fit lady as its centre piece!

It was a 1/1 massive prey and I regret selling it but it seems that it went to a good home so I am happy.

I've been thinking about a Penny Prey.

Like the image, not concerned whether it is 1/1, 1/5, 1/20 etc.
Don't like the ones with the halo of currency...just plain hands.

Any ideas on current price?
