Where does the best street/urban art come from?, by Deleted on Jun 3, 2013 14:14:35 GMT 1, Like good music or food there always seems to be one place more than anywhere else that at times has an abundance of the good stuff. So where do people thing the best street art is being produced overall these days? UK? USA? Germany? More specifically, London? New York? Berlin? or elsewhere?

Where does the best street/urban art come from?, by rosh on Jun 3, 2013 14:17:59 GMT 1, Paris it's a big place of street-Art & Graffiti, London for Urban & Street-Art, New-York for Graffiti, Berlin is a very good place with upcoming artists..
I don't have one place of reference, but I think every place have specialities.

I wouldnt judge a citys street Art by how famous the artists are, some of the best work is by people that really do not care about selling pieces.

Any list of vibrant and progressive graffiti capitals should include Latin America...
Sรฃo Paulo, Bogota, Mexico City, Valparaiso, Lima...
Not forgetting other places in the Southern Hemisphere - Melbourne, Cape Town etc...
London, Paris, New York, Berlin, Madrid etc everybody should know already - so it's worth a trip a bit further to discover something different. But with more street art festivals,
the world comes to your doorstep.
And Bristol always naturally...

Not judging mate but simply asking a question. I posed the question about street /urban artists. Famous or not. Not artists in general. So if you know others from Bristol shout them out. I'd be interested in learning about others. Isn't Miss Bugs from Bristol? Mudwig? |

For me, I think it has to be Paris (the city not the artists, who's incidentally also from Bristol). I haven't been back for a couple of years but I'm always blown away by the graffiti and street art around the city. The tracksides as you come into the city have been bombed to within an inch of their life and there's always a massive variety of high quality pieces in all kinds of spots. Last time I was there I was particularly impressed by C215, Bonom, Claire Amoureuse, Repaze and DMV crew.
Other than Banksy who else is from Bristol? Aside from the names mentioned by bigp there's also Sickboy, Cyclops, Vermin, Demz, Rowdy, Mr Jago, Xenz, Khoi, Ponk, Sweet Toof, C'est Bon, DAN, Jody, Jefrow, AcerOne and Filthy Luker.
