Paul Insect - One-off handwoven rug., by ruggage on Jan 31, 2013 12:11:12 GMT 1, I recently worked with Paul to create an amazing one-off hand knotted rug for a collection made for an exhibition I curated called Rug Addicts.
The rug is currently at his solo NYC show - but was not for sale - it is also about to be shipped back.
The rug was handwoven in Cairo and is a beautiful and unique piece. The rug spent a total of 7 months on the looms and has around 567,800 knots.
The size is 1.65 x 2.22m - so quite a large piece. Paul's signature has been woven into the bottom right hand corner "Pins" with a small skull.
As it is an original rug - the asking price is ยฃ12,000 but as with any rug we would be prepared to haggle.

We are doing a limited run of 30 hand tufted carpets - made to order. Will be ready in about 6 weeks.
Hand tufted is a slightly quicker and cheaper process than hand knotting so it's ยฃ600 for a rug for the smallest size.
