David gives Barack an EINE Canvas, by daveart on Jul 23, 2010 13:45:47 GMT 1, Everyone seems to know exactly what Obama received - but do we know exactly what he gave? I read it was an Ed Ruscha. So Obama gets a somewhat unknown street artists work and Obama gives a world renown artists work. interesting. i believe Ruscha's work is appreciated by the president and there is at least one original on donation hanging in the white house.

Banksy Happy Chopper Print, by daveart on May 27, 2010 2:12:40 GMT 1, Definitely push a bit on this punk. call the local police and just request they do a drive by and talk with him. no charges filed yet.. no hassle.. just a quick chat with the authorities and this punk might fold and cry like a baby.
Look you dont have to read this .. so stop now .. but if you do .. this is my experience.. and i share it with you to help save one person the hassle i went through.
Having used Paypal in this situation WOULD NOT HAVE HELPED. Trust me. I bought some 'fake' 'seriously mis represented' expensive art a few years back and used PayPal and thought it was all good. Then the police called to tell me that my address had been found in this guys computer that had just been arrested for selling fake goods. Paypal .. no help AT ALL. Basically paypal does not take any effort in helping with mis represented goods. If goods are shipped at all .. they are happy. This is KEY. They do not warranty goods. If your account is hacked or stolen or whatever. then they help you. DO NOT rely on Paypal to be in your corner to help you with misrepresented goods. period. HOWEVER, and my forum friends this is KEY. IF you Pay your PAYPAL account using a credit card instead of your bank account ... Your Credit card fraud division will kick in. Let me tell you.. after weeks of frustration with PAYPAL. One phone call to my credit card fraud department solved all my problem. Those people are SHARKS. I was reimbursed the full amount plus shipping. If you buy any art online you simply must 1. call paypal to confirm what i tell you that they do not cover mis represented goods. 2. call your credit card fraud department and ask them if the will cover mis represented goods. Only do a transaction where you have coverage for FRAUD. As that is what this is. It is a crime. an intentional crime. not goods damaged in shipment, not a mis understanding, this is a crime.
I tell you one last thing in my sad tale. The product i purchased from Ebay. The police had been monitoring the guys account for months building a case... I was furious to learn this and went back to Ebay Paypal to raise some hell. Oh they confirmed the seller was under watch by police but then told me they will not stop a seller until AFTER a conviction. To restrict a seller prior to conviction would be to trample their right to do business. SERIOUSLY this is what they told me. So even though they knew the seller was under investigation and Ebay/Paypal were participating and helping the police build a case.. they were still letting transactions process through the persons account.
I have bought art from forum members... Ebay ..etc. you have to have some level of trust to deal with people you cannot look in the eye. its a risk we all take. BUT .. i tell you.. dont take that risk thinking PayPal has your back. they dont. Your credit card fraud department though... they are your friend. in my experience of course.
good luck to all. be safe out there. And seriously...get a cop to go do a little talk with MR Jwart. He committed a crime and you just want the police to do a little investigating. That's what they are there for.

Pairings - Favorite pairing of two pieces, by daveart on May 25, 2010 16:04:20 GMT 1, Just for the sake of conversation.. anyone have any favorite pairings of art. I'll give you my two. Just picked up the one and only MBW print I will probably ever own. I think it looks good with my Indiana LOVE.
And of course.. dig my FAILE dogs. Relatively inexpensive FAILE's that are iconic to the artist in my opinion and look great together.
Quick shout of thanks to some forum members that have helped me pick up these pieces along the way.

Want to Buy- Mr Brainwash Madonna, by daveart on May 1, 2010 21:20:51 GMT 1, i cant believe i am doing this. but i finally took some time to look through MBW's work .. and while overall i think he is putting out too much too fast .. a few images caught my eye.
i would be interested in any of the madonna images - including the line kiss image.
send me information if you have one for sale. prefer unframed and in the US.
Regards. David

Faile Print & Original Release, by daveart on Mar 19, 2010 13:42:10 GMT 1, personally i would rather see all artists price their work at a price that it takes a week or a month to sell out all the impressions. gives you a chance to consider it. talk it over. think about framing. etc. rather than trying to make a split second decision on a large purchase. look at all the art galleries in the world.. they dont have things priced so that they sell out instantly. i believe the reason there are some left is they are the weaker images. the impressions with stronger colors sold first - as they should have. strong images from FAILE will sell fine at this price point - for now - but who knows about the future. a run of 23 is practically an original in the art world these days -- id put even these weaker FAILE prints ahead of the last few from Banksy - (donuts/vlh) just an opinion of course :-)

King ROBBO 🇬🇧 Banksy v King Robbo • Street Art, by daveart on Mar 3, 2010 21:51:56 GMT 1, I found this an interestin read...
WSJ.com By GABRIELE STEINHAUSER LONDON—In the predawn hours of Christmas morning, a 40-year-old shoe repairman who goes by the name Robbo squeezed his 6-foot-8-inch frame into a wet suit, tossed some spray cans into a plastic bag, and crossed Regent's Canal on a red-and-blue air mattress.
Robbo, one of the lost pioneers of London's 1980s graffiti scene, was emerging from a long retirement. He had a mission: to settle a score with the world-famous street artist Banksy, who, Robbo believes, had attacked his legacy.
etc.... full article here:

For Sale- Grafter Splash White Canvas, by daveart on Mar 2, 2010 3:34:46 GMT 1, well. have to admit i am a bit surprised there was not more interest than one bid. the risk of auctions i guess.. but i am ok at $700 plus some shipping. so this is headed back to the UK where it will find a new home. time will tell but i think this was well purchased and should be enjoyed for years to come.

For Sale- Grafter Splash White Canvas, by daveart on Feb 23, 2010 15:06:45 GMT 1, I had a decent amount of interest in this piece when i posted some pics on here a week or so back. Based on that I thought I would offer it up to a new home:
starting at the cost I have into it...
cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&&item=320492384153
This has been hanging in an office setting - out of direct sunlight, no smoking, no damage of any kind.
Pictures of the back as requested by a few people. for those of you interested in the number of the print.. i'll just show you. #1 .. pretty cool eh??
This is a seriously cool piece of art !
Good Luck!

Banksy £10 • Di-Faced Tenner, by daveart on Feb 22, 2010 17:31:35 GMT 1, having been caught up in the purchase of fake art once i have to comment on this thread.. the police in the US were very clear that should i pass along this piece of art in the future for really ANY amount of money over the cost of a big sheet of paper i would be just as liable as the idiot that sold it to me. by the way this guy was apparently scamming lots of people and went to jail for some time period. this thread being about a relatively small amount of money probably falls under the radar of a big court case -- but its still sad for sure -- my thought would be - people rarely just scam one person and people taking the time to fake a piece of artwork can just as surely fake a COA. at some point it comes to trust and due diligence. on some other forums i follow there is a great saying " buy the seller" ie. pay more for something from someone you can trust. sad but true.

Faile • Dog Prints, All Editions , by daveart on Feb 22, 2010 15:09:21 GMT 1, definitely a strong price - with everything going on with Faile - Gagosian and Lazerides - it would be pretty surprising to see older Faile prints not getting a boost right now. funny - suddenly i like it more. trend up after last year or just a blip?

Grafter Splash Canvas Question, by daveart on Jan 25, 2010 21:44:47 GMT 1, I have a white Splash canvas purchased from Urban Angel over a year ago.
Note the lower left corner of the canvas - with strong side lighting you can see a shadow on the canvas from a bit of looseness in it at the corner. i think this shows up enough in the pictures.
this is how it came out of the packaging originally - and is i would add consistent with a similar situation on an Eskimo Child canvas i purchased direct from Grafter.
my question - if i were to sell this canvas - how is this represented? is it a problem or just the way the canvas was stretched.
secondarily, Any thoughts open to what people might feel a current value would be. It is #1/10
Thank you.
and full view..

Faile Scuba Horse Sculpture, by daveart on Dec 3, 2009 19:02:31 GMT 1, curious what you all are referring to regarding the "the gagosian news" I know what gagosian is .. but how do you relate that to what will happen going forward. are you saying they havent been in that circle before and are now ? or just that is an opportunity to bring more exposure to them than they already have.

Faile Scuba Horse Sculpture, by daveart on Dec 3, 2009 18:39:36 GMT 1, with a low edition of 24 - at 1/3 the price.. print seemed the better way to go.
i like the print. much more consuer (ie. home/office) friendly than some of the faile pieces. and in the end if you cant hang it on the wall whats the point. anyone think it would be overkill to have this print hanging with tender forever in the same room?!

Banksy Bomb Hugger Print, by daveart on Oct 28, 2009 14:22:52 GMT 1, interesting discussion.. too bad it is taking away from this guys sale. but to press it a bit. curiousgeorge - it seems to me some of the problems you are discussing 'may' take place. not 'will' take place and could take longer than the few years this print has been around. also most ready made frames - if this is - are actually plexi and may not stick the same way glass would. Many other factors including heat and humidity of where this was hung.. so anyway .. this guy doesnt have to throw the thing away just yet.. he should though take this to a framer to crack the thing open and take some pics - probably cost $40 or something at the framers and clear this all up....
