FAILE Temple - Lisbon, Portugal Arte 10, by wimpy on Jul 25, 2010 14:09:48 GMT 1, Yeah, I know what you mean but I guess the construction might be built in such a way that winter weather could damage it I think that would be great though and as graffiti artists they should be used to the concept that there work will not be perfect forever. I guess as long as the new surroundings complement the temple lke the current location does, it will still have the same impact when you interact with it
"Nothing Lasts Forever"
Eventually the thing is getting defaced, destroyed, disassembled. They built new ruins; they accelerated time and seem to be MOST aware of "the concept that there work will not be perfect forever". Whatever happens to it, the point has been made and retains its value for me.

Invader and Fairey get a nod on Futurama, by wimpy on Jul 9, 2010 11:10:50 GMT 1, From the new Futurama episode last night...
www.comedycentral.com/videos/index.jhtml?videoId=340944&title=benders-arrest
Before that part he is hitting up the streets with tiles for a while and even goes over a Nixon poster (Fairey Obama-like). Can't find the full scene or episode yet online to link, though.

Faile Ecstasy Print - June 15th, by wimpy on Jun 16, 2010 10:35:45 GMT 1, Beautiful large print with tons of work into it. Well worth $750 if you've got it and enjoy the image and colors.
Prints don't need to sell out in 2 minutes for them to be good. I understand this is a Banksy-based forum, but using the speed/price at which Banksy prints move as a reference point is just silly. If a release isn't a site-crashing mess which results in instant high resale vale, the regular arguments repeat themselves.
And if it is 24x36, that leaves a TON of options for pre-made frames to cut down majorly on cost. Get creative with some spraypaint for the frame and use some home-made spacers. You could easily frame this up for around $50 all-in.

MMMMM!, by wimpy on Apr 29, 2010 11:42:46 GMT 1, Is the question mark over the hand saying "This is terrible and probably isn't Banksy"?
Or is that just an acrylic and marker "sketch"?
The one below posted in response is nice, though.

Banksy in Seattle, by wimpy on Apr 25, 2010 16:50:38 GMT 1, Would be so funny now if this pops up on Banksy's website ;D
That'd be great and I'll be the first to admit I was wrong.

Banksy in Seattle, by wimpy on Apr 24, 2010 20:28:40 GMT 1, Fake.
Banksy actually does some freehand and other shadowing/highlighting using the stencils for those top layers.
Clear this is a very flat two-stencil overlay with no attention to the finer details of using spraypaint.

Banksy in Los Angeles, by wimpy on Apr 16, 2010 16:49:56 GMT 1, who me,?. I was saying that the building was always designed like that?
No... I should have quoted him. Was talking to BK83.
I apparently fail at "internet wizardry".

Banksy in Los Angeles, by wimpy on Apr 16, 2010 16:31:39 GMT 1, So they built the entire building that way just for him? Now you are just pushing it way past my level of paranoia.
That post is there (along with all the others on the building in similar locations) for aesthetics and symmetry.
Whether Banksy chose that one because he knew it was hollow is a whole different thing.

Banksy in Los Angeles, by wimpy on Apr 14, 2010 23:39:18 GMT 1, Skai, it is owned by MrChristmas read previously posted and its all there :-) The property is owned by Doug Christmas? Hmmmm, so are we expected to think that it's a coincidence that Mr.B chose this property to put a piece up. I mean there are literally millions of walls in LA and this is the one he picked. Am I wrong to assume that B knew this, and will most likely get a piece of the action from the sale?
I don't know about "getting a piece of the action from the sale", but it would be a pretty good way to get people fired up like it has and keep talking about it.

Banksy in Los Angeles, by wimpy on Apr 14, 2010 21:54:06 GMT 1, So the guy who owns the property took it down and has it? It was okay for that theater in Utah but not okay in this case?
And I assume he means "it isn't on his website yet" when he says "the artist never confirmed the work was his".

Banksy in Los Angeles, by wimpy on Apr 14, 2010 11:31:20 GMT 1, I had no idea that the pillar was only wood! It was a nice spot to do a piece, but Banksy must have realised if it was just on wood it would get taken pretty fast
You can see the lines from each section of the material that post was made out of. I don't know if it was textured board, sprayed stucco on wood, or what... but just looking at the bottom alone (before removal) shows it was hollow.
And he must have known, yes. It was obviously more about the sign there and using that than thinking about it being stolen.
It'd be a pretty funny joke that is part of his "outside sales" plan was to steal his own stuff once enough pics were taken in order to fire more people up and gain interest.

Banksy in Los Angeles, by wimpy on Apr 12, 2010 17:52:31 GMT 1, There has to be more street stuff in the works. I'm guessing he'll hit LA a couple more times or maybe stay on the move and touch on some cities he hasn't yet.

"Exit Through.." 5 minute extended sneak peek.., by wimpy on Apr 6, 2010 23:49:55 GMT 1, Snore!
The opening credits were hype, but the rest just went downhill. From what you've all said the movie is about, that trailer doesn't really take you there.

FS Lister Original Painting (Diptych) REDUCED, by wimpy on Apr 3, 2010 13:30:28 GMT 1, i really rate Lister as an artist. i just don't get why he feels the need to mirror image lots of his work and sell as a diptych. hope this sells its very nice.
From his LTRHDS interview:
"Q: The use of the diptych has featured heavily in recent shows of yours. These works echo rorschach inkblot tests in their composition. What is it that lures you into this repetition of the figure?
A: I am interested in the act of problem solving. by painting two pictures in a mirrored composition, outside of it being down right tricky, it allows me to exercise my decision making and deal with my own aesthetic problems i lay out for myself."
Anyhow... nice little paintings and nice frame job. G'luck with the sale!
