Fake Bast pieces on Ebay, by jusdeep on Mar 9, 2016 18:39:47 GMT 1, Yes, I emailed Bast direct and both pieces are fake. I have been speaking with one of the sellers, although they seem duly concerned the auction is still going bids are still rolling in.

Sandra Chevrier โข La cage et la dignitรฉ, by jusdeep on Mar 8, 2016 12:43:53 GMT 1, These kind of releases always bug me - ยฃ200 for a timed release that could end up an edition of thousands, or a kind gesture from the artists allowing many more fans to own some of their work? Personally, unless all or some of the profit is going to charity I would steer clear - however good the image or how much I like the artists work. This kind of selling devalues what is an exceptional print.

Peter Blake Dazzle ed150, by jusdeep on Mar 3, 2016 9:46:04 GMT 1, I actually measured it out and the print only has a 5 cm white border around it, so the one pictured with Sir Peter must have a larger mount.

Peter Blake Dazzle ed150, by jusdeep on Mar 3, 2016 9:14:57 GMT 1, This is the info I was sent: Paper size is 60 x 40cm โ image is 50 x 30cm.
Price of the print is likely to rise! Liverpool Biennial has odd numbers of the 150. Sir Peter Blakeโs studio has even numbers. Split 75 each.

Bast - Holy Paris WTB, by jusdeep on Mar 3, 2016 9:06:06 GMT 1, Yeah, good luck with that - I think a couple have only recently found new homes. I was looking for 5 years and had 2 lined up only to fall through. I gave up and found something else. With an edition of 9 you'll have you work cut out, but good luck in your search.

Eelus print contest - "Baby Shot Me Down", by jusdeep on Feb 26, 2016 0:25:51 GMT 1, Great idea for a competition and I'm very glad to get a second shot of winning one of these prints after missing out on both editions - Sold out in the blink of an eye and I thought I had itchy trigger fingers. My collection has thinned a lot over the years, but I haven't been able to let this classic go, helps that it's #1:

The Best Film Ever, by jusdeep on Jan 2, 2016 12:44:13 GMT 1, My 2 favourite films of last year were Whiplash and Mommy, both powerful with great acting. Hard to chose between them. Although I'm very much looking forward to seeing Carol and The Revenant.

Best tea of the uk?, by jusdeep on Dec 31, 2015 12:11:30 GMT 1, That's some collection there Coach. I'm more of a coffee snob myself, although when I do buy my tea it's always from Wilkinsons of Norwich. wilkinsonsofnorwich.com/Default.aspx
Usually buy Young Hyson Green tea, peppermint, jasmine and chamomile. The Young Hyson is one of my favourite green teas, tried a lot and apart from the expensive powdered varieties this is the best in my opinion. wilkinsonsofnorwich.com/

Whats the connection between Faile and Bast?, by jusdeep on Dec 31, 2015 11:31:44 GMT 1, Oh and regarding going over other artists work in the streetsโฆ This is a quote taken from Beyond the Street 'Well, for about the past 12 years I've been going over pieces by a lot of graffiti guys. Not out of disrespect โ for me it's the collage of it that really makes things interesting, but I think a lot of graffiti writers just don't get it. I know they all want to kill me.'

Whats the connection between Faile and Bast?, by jusdeep on Dec 31, 2015 11:20:27 GMT 1, As far as I know Dain and Bast aren't brothers, (also heard that they were cousins). Faile, Bast, Dain and Rae all work out of Brooklyn so it's possible they grew up together or maybe hit the streets - certainly were all friends in the early wheat pasting days.
Bast did used to sell out of Brooklynite, although when I asked Rae about his connection to the gallery a few years ago he said he just helped out and didn't run it. It's possible that there was a beef because of the similarity to Dain's work. But have heard many other stories and sordid tales I won't go into. Also heard rumours of Rae being Bast's studio assistant. Obviously a similarity in their work that I'm sure didn't go down too well. Not sure if they ever had a show together - new one on me.
Bast is rumoured to have been a baggage handler at JFK airport and in his off-time would comb the shore line for rubbish to make his art which is very outsider art in nature and draws inspiration from the Dadaist movement.
I think the main story with Faile and Bast is that they possibly shared a studio, but used to collaborate together regularly along with Aiko back in the day. You can see the influence very prominantly in their early works and I think Aiko may have been the girlfriend of one of the group. Faile were always a big fan of Bast's work and there was a definite crossover in styles and similarity in their work ethics and use of materials. Then they parted company, (probably on good terms as they carry on collaborating to this day).
As far as I am aware Bast parted company with Laz several years ago and although he has worked with a few other galleries, (Opera, Allouche, Eric Firestone) seems to do his own thing. He has a strong enough following to get by with very little help or gallery representation.
It would be certainly be good to have some kind of clarity on all the rumour and hearsay, (there's a lot and I haven't touched on many wild stories I have been told from fans and direct over the years). It would be great to have a new definative book on Bast as he's a very interesting and colourful character. Something along the lines of Faile's works on paper or wood books - but I'm sure Bast has little or no interest and would rather keep doing the work that he loves. A book is probably the last thing on his mind.

Art on a Postcard | raising money for The Hepatitis C Trust, by jusdeep on Nov 14, 2015 12:48:22 GMT 1, Must be your phone. They have been there for nearly a month. Auction site was a differnet url, but the other clickable links in the text on the AOAPC site were there for a while. Now disabled and the only one available is the list of artists and what cards they did.

New RAE drawings, by jusdeep on Nov 14, 2015 10:22:44 GMT 1, Wtf!?! Got the email about these last night and can't believe people are buying this. The standard of Rae's work really has taken a nose-dive of late - he seems to be knocking any old shizzle out for a buck these days.

Art on a Postcard | raising money for The Hepatitis C Trust, by jusdeep on Nov 14, 2015 0:49:23 GMT 1, So strange I cant belive that no one bidded on the lot nr 108 110 and 111 they are really nice arent they? congratz to the lucky one that bought lot nr 110 for only ยฃ50 I LOVED that one. I got 111, Vincent is a great great artist. Kind of wished I'd bidded on a few of the earlier lotts but was saving myself for the later ones. Should have bidded on the Jane Bustin card, but ended up with 3 nice cards in the end.

Miaz Brothers ๐ฎ๐น Portrait Painters โข Roberto & Renato Miaz, by jusdeep on Nov 4, 2015 17:42:24 GMT 1, I really like both and would be hard pushed to chose between them. The only thing putting me off is the size and amount of wall space these would take up, plus the inevitable framing costs which would be ยฃ300 upwards for each. I just know I would buy and they would never make the wall. Not sure if it's something for you. However, regarding framing I would buy a cheap second hand/charity frame, paint it (if needed), and add a custom cut white mount. Shouldn't be more than ยฃ50 or so. Probably not Martin, I have far too many big pieces on my walls already. I do like the Miaz Brothers work and would like something by them in the future. I think if it was edge to edge it would have more appeal as then you could frame it to look like an original. Price point is good though and different enough to buy both and feel like you got a good deal.

Tracey Emin โข But Yea, by jusdeep on Oct 24, 2015 21:16:43 GMT 1, Anyone know if In My Head sold out? Thanks. I don't think so, it looked like there were lots left. I was there most days and only saw a couple of people with the flat-packed print, most people hoovered up the last of the 'Love is what you want' posters and some of the new 'But Yeah' posters. I was told if I was interested in the โLonely Chair 1โ print that was even available as Tracey hadn't gotten around to signing the remaining prints yet. Get in touch with Emin International as I'm sure they'll be able to help you out.

Auction house or eBay?, by jusdeep on Sept 30, 2015 13:00:09 GMT 1, I would offer it on here - obviously depending what it is. If it's quality, it'll get sold quickly, avoid auction fees and possibly a long wait to get entered into the right auction catalogue. And if it's by a few artists avoid resale tax.

Flattening Prints โข Creased, Folded, Rolled or Rippled , by jusdeep on Sept 29, 2015 20:20:33 GMT 1, I wasn't actually talking about physically glueing the work to a mount. The material I was referring to is a type of conservation fibreboard lined with a coating that when heated under low temperatures adheres, is fully reversible without any damage and is used by many galleries, high-end framers and museums. I was sceptical at first but found it to be very effective on large (heavy) prints and prints that may be prone to movement or waving. I would certainly not use this method on all artworks - there may be more appropriate ways of framing depending on size, paper, medium, household positioning etc.

BANKSY Curated Show "Dismaland" in Weston-super-Mare, by jusdeep on Sept 11, 2015 16:06:36 GMT 1, Does anyone know who the 'local band' is next Friday night? I heard a rumour that it's Portishead... Anyone have any more info. Chicken in a basket! I heard the same from several good sources. Who knows, I was thinking maybe BEak or Horse, but as Geoff is dj'ing anything is possible. Especially after the Fatboy Slim turn up. Here's hoping as it's the first time I've bagged tickets.
