MOBILE LOVERS: Banksy spotted being valued Antiques Roadshow, by overend on May 31, 2014 11:31:45 GMT 1, Team banksy are experts in what they do. Nothing is random, they plan pieces and events in meticulous detail. When did we last see a street piece on wood that is so easily removable? They would have known when they put it up that their 'gift to the area' wasn't going to last more than 24 hours as anyone with a crowbar could come along and take it off in less than half an hour. I wouldn't be surprised if they tipped off the boys club to prevent it falling into the hands of violent thugs out to make a quick buck Just a hunch, but I think theres a lot of random fly by the seat of your pants caper in the world of team Banksy. No doubt a lot of meticulous planning and forward thinking around shows etc but I'd guess they go with the flow at times, have a bit of fun a long the way. I honestly think it was put there because it was the right setting for the work and everything else was a chain reaction. I should add I don't know s**t, like most people. In my head its a group of guys having the time of there life, theres probably others who look after the paperwork etc side of things.
I know even less than you but would hazard a guess it's not all beer (cider) and skittles. He probably misses the old days when work could be produced without consequences. Don't forget the elephant piece that inadvertently made someone homeless.

JPS 🇬🇧 Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by overend on May 28, 2014 23:00:02 GMT 1, I think that depends on what you regard to be the 'right skills' and I'm guessing that we must look for quite different skills in an artist. Skills as in his art looks good.
His faces look real enough to me, some of Banksy's childrens faces look old, the POlice Kids I thought the boy was president Kennedy. JPS is not as political as Banksy but has a sense of humour and chooses what he paints where carefully.
I don't get the growlers moaning about him being a copy of Banksy when Banksy is just a English Blek le Rat and I thought the whole point of Banksy was to also encourage others to do the same type of things and there is more than eneough walls and buildings for hundreds of street artists.
Banksy has the PR machine behind him.
JPS doesn't.

Clueless.

Last show at the current WOC Gallery. CHEO - End Of The Line, by overend on May 8, 2014 7:47:20 GMT 1, Well said feral. Been to some really good shows at the gallery. Recall a 3Dom show when the gallery was up on the hill that stood out for me and a Soker one at the current venue.
Anyway there are some interesting plans in the pipeline and at least Cheba might get a little extra time for painting. Understand some of his work sold really well in the USA recently. Well done that man.

DOLK 'VANDAL' AND 'IDEA PAINTER' NEXT WEEK!, by overend on May 6, 2014 17:06:04 GMT 1, I just can't see what anyone likes about Dolk. IMO poor ideas and expensive. It's all a matter if personal taste Paul. Some say the same about anything which, or anyone who emanates from Bristol.... Not my view, natch.
Who are these people of whom you speak? I need to have words! ;-)

Banksy.co.uk • Official Banksy Website , by overend on May 2, 2014 16:06:17 GMT 1, I am too lazy to read all of this thread to find out. So excuse me if this has been mentioned and it probably has. Banksy has just done a straight drawing of loads of cuddly toys in a cattle truck. Copying it from the person who originally came up with the idea, by driving a real truck full of toys around in a cattle truck. Thats the theft here. Not what Gonefellows has done. Similar I suppose to Banksys take on 'Winston Churchill', which I love. Gonefellows art is original IMO. If he wanted to print it and make some money from everyone that likes it I can't see where the problem is. I think is a great gesture offering the image for all to print. I would get your copies, while you can.
Is this serious or have I missed one of the syndicates' in jokes? Banksy ripping off himself?

Sincura / Banksys sale starts today., by overend on Apr 25, 2014 10:44:08 GMT 1, STEALING BANKSY? show in 2014, was actually commissioned by Banksy himself, through an anonymous company No.5 on the trivia portion of the "The Banksy Bugle" (excuse me while I swallow the bit of sick in my mouth), surely if this is an outright lie, they are selling under false pretences and this is illegal? I also didn't know (and certainly don't believe) that Bono comissioned the "maid" piece in Chalk Farm (No.2) This whole thing stinks. Sincura group are a bunch of parasitic cnuts, truly sickening! anything is possible in todays warped society.
the idea that Banksy is behind his art being removed from buildings and auctioned for big money is something a lot of people think is a good theory.

New Banksy?, by overend on Apr 21, 2014 14:47:21 GMT 1,
How can you criticise Banksy when your art is so pathetic ?
I'm not criticising Banky's art at all.
I like his stencils and some of his art.
I don't know if he paints his own oils before sticking a nazi soldier on them but anyone an do that.
Whats funny is the long debates when a new stencil is found on a wall with experts debating if it's a Banksy stencil or a stencil by a non Banksy in which case ignore it.
Which proves that Banksy stencils look like anyone elses stencils.
Which proves that it's all in the name.
I don' care if my art is pathetic or not.
Anyone can whack a big stencil image on a wall.
I like Syd
You don't even realise who Banksy is calling morons do you.
Yes but it matters where that wall is sometimes. Sorry you don't get it.

New Banksy?, by overend on Apr 19, 2014 18:16:30 GMT 1, The Angel with a paint pot on it's head, was on display yesterday (Friday 18th), usual place, opposite the front door
Still there today. Fun taking photos of people taking photos on their mobiles of the mobile lovers.
The phone booth piece (iSpy) looking good today. The phone booth itself has been spruced up. The piece was painted over a couple of nights ago. Fortunately it was emulsion and quick witted residents quickly removed it.
