Advice needed on where in London to live, by craigf on May 22, 2012 23:07:36 GMT 1, Hi, I am thinking of taking a job in London and will need to get to an area around Bank tube station each morning. I am looking for a one bed flat but need help in deciding the best place to look to live. Ideally it is not too far but at the same time not too expensive.  If anyone could give me some advice it'd be much appreciated. 
The great thing about Bank station is a lot of tube lines come into it so you can live in most directions reasonably easily. I think you are going to need to indicate how much is not too expensive as there are loads of options and price bands depending on how long you are looking the commute to be etc

a great site is spareroom.co.uk really good and stay well away from gumtree, most of them are scams

Advice needed on where in London to live, by Goooogle Male on May 23, 2012 0:29:00 GMT 1, defo consider stockwell/kennington/vauxhall - couple of stops on the northern line (or a very do-able Boris Bike journey). You can live much closer to central london (or generally more bang for your buck) being just south of the river than north.

Advice needed on where in London to live, by saint on May 23, 2012 16:50:46 GMT 1, Near to Bank, i'd look east, wapping is nice and affordable, plus you can get views of the thames which isnt bad. Old Street/Angel is gonna push the budget as its where everyone wants to live atm. Not surprising really, i live there.
You could also look at barbican if you dont mind living in a 1970's concrete nightmare.
As has been mentioned, just south of the river is nice and you get more bang for your buck, Borough, London Bridge, etc....
Whitechapel is cool, i used to live up at mile end, bit dodgy, but good vibe, brick lane near by which is heaving (plus good for art on walls)....
