I want to buy a T/Murakami print, probably a DOB or Flowers of some description.

is eBay the best source for these prints?

I am assuming that it isnt possible to buy direct from KK Japan?

ANY advice to guide me and prevent being ripped is appreciated!

There are some nice Marakami prints listed towards the end (lot 505 onward) with reasonable estimates. Might be some help...?

Gonna day I got my two from dreweats. I think auction houses are much safer than ebay.
Or through people with good reps on the site here.

Being based in hong kong makes buying a bit more difficult so often use the auction houses. Some times costs a bit more but some times less than market.

But does feel quite scure even though not perfect still possible to get a fake but a lot less likely IMO

Estimates are usefull - from experience, these ones (always on offer during Bonhams Auctions) pretty much always sell for ~ £600-650 on the top of which you have to add auctionner's cion (27%)... therefore eBay is quicker and not any more expensive ...

TBH Johnny I've never heard of fake Murakami prints. I presumed the volume's and turnover of new designs made the values and therefore the temptation to forge quite low. (apart from key pieces 727 Tan Tan bo I guess).

Deepblue you could have a look on Perrotin's webstore store.perrotin.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=1&sort=3a&page=1 . Dob's from 650 euros. + shipping.

I have personally bought from famous_famous on ebay who were great.

I do my best , afraid shipping cost is fairly steep but via fedex. I think the price increases as they sell out, the vapour trail is a steal at 650 (yep hands up Ive got one !)

he usually has the best prices and sells quickly

But after seeing the upcoming auction my advice is to go for that for two main reasons:
1. you'll save shipping and import fees
2. probably you can gat a print at a good price as there are many on auction (and too many available on the second market now)

Rysok would not disagree with you there and to be honest never looked at murakami's on eBay just as never buy from there (could be me being a bit of a girl).
Not saying it's all bad bought foota tickets etc just not art.
Liked the perotins though. Some cracking prints. Same prefer somewhere like this costs a few more but I am happier then that it's clean.

Totally trustworthy. Pricing is fair. No problem with courier shipping at all (the original Kaiki Kaiki packaging is very protective). I have already pre-ordered another one from the recent releases from him.

I think for Murakami prints, eBay is a good place, especially if you find a Tokyo-based seller. I often find the prices at galleries to be substantially higher.

Im with you Johnny, after a little while you can see the regular Japanese resellers on ebay in fact a few are also galleries. Its funny on the next page on the auction is an Opie piece that was sold on ebay a few weeks ago !
Perrotin seems to be the best/only EU source Baltic are giving up on new Murakami prints.
