MOCA "Art in the Streets" Until 8th August, by bucky on Apr 15, 2011 15:24:11 GMT 1, I see it more as a Banksy fail than bad show to be in, I mean it looks like he forgot to stencil a warden on the roller piece lol.
You're not the first person to say this Some of you are obviously not looking at the pieces for more than a second. Maybe you should think about why it's about to roll over a red heart shaped balloon!!

MOCA "Art in the Streets" Until 8th August, by eschiff on Apr 15, 2011 15:27:42 GMT 1, man, i think the stained glass window is phenominal. Not sure what people were expecting but everything looks great to me. There wasn't going to be another painted elephant in this show.
And remember, for the most part it was a restrospective, that's why there's all the old imagery.

MOCA "Art in the Streets" Until 8th August, by Deleted on Apr 15, 2011 16:04:19 GMT 1, I personally dont think Banksy has anything to be worried about or feel like he has missed a trick by not doing more. IMO this show would never of happened had it not been for things like barely legal and exit. Banksy has put this scene where it needs to be. And i would hazard a guess that every artist showing work there that is still alive knows this!

agreed. its a retrospective on the evolution/history of street art/graffiti. the expectations people lay on banksy are unbelievable. i think it looks like a cool exhibition. the pinata with cops, the Native American piece and the flower throwers are all very cool pieces. lighten up people.

MOCA "Art in the Streets" Until 8th August, by My Name is Frank on Apr 15, 2011 20:12:07 GMT 1, Trying too hard to show too much in one boot? On the other hand that's the price someone has to pay when agrees to be part of such a kind of exhibition - this was never going to be another Bristol or LA Show. Kind of glad that Faile and others are not part of it now. I see it more as a Banksy fail than bad show to be in, I mean it looks like he forgot to stencil a warden on the roller piece lol. The espo/james/mcgee installation looks insane and it seems like many artists have really risen to the challenge. Personally I see these kind of shows as ones that Banksy should be dominating if he really does want to be the biggest thing in the scene
Sorry to quote you to retort to all, but get a grip!!! Without Banksy this show would work, with him it's stellar! Make no mistake Jo asked for the removal of his name in Build up. As for Rodney king, work it out gimps, you have a black president and it's a pinyata they're choosing to beat! When you then say Mexican, you might want to think a little more about just how strong that piece is and give donuts a little more respect.
Love what he has done there, once again miles ahead of everyone else

No worries. I like the individual works, but I just dont think it worked as a space.

MOCA "Art in the Streets" Until 8th August, by theleveller on Apr 15, 2011 22:01:49 GMT 1, No matter how look at this, most will see the dollar. I enjoyed it while it lasted...this to me is the end............ sad to see banksy! well in my world most d'ont have the dollar so i will enjoy it while its there.......wtf would you like instead?
I'm sorry what? I would like artists not to sell out and do it because they love it, selling out to fing jeffrey would be a start... banksy always said he would never sell to saatchi, in reality whats the difference?
I think you got the wrong end of the stick, I want all art to be viewed by everyone, but when an artist such as Banksy whole ethos is fuck the art world then plays the game = sell out!
I wasn't being egotistical just disagree with whats he's done, which now as a brand he's being forced to do... which I personally think shows in the lack luster effort exhibit he's shown.
Bristol was a different beast, which was truely amazing... and i felt banksy had a hand in everything... this I believe he didn't, thanks why I comment on the money... this show was put on to try and gain more interest and therefore money followers/collectors equalling this is just a cash cow for jeffrey, he's a businessman with a huge collection of so called "urban art", thats why I talked about money.....
Sorry for the rant and I'm sure alot will disagree....
But I know I'm right
Peace anyway and enjoy the art weather you buy/sell or just admire after all its on a bit of paper....

Anything new? Its just lazy which smacks of uninterested! He's bored! FACT Family is more important.....

MOCA "Art in the Streets" Until 8th August, by anodyne13 on Apr 15, 2011 23:27:06 GMT 1, As pointed out before this is a retrospective. Further more it is a group retrospective. It is a very impressive show, especially for a major museum.
You may not like it, but that does not mean it is not impressive and well thought out, it just means you are capable of not enjoying impressive and well thought out exhibitions. Congratulations.

MOCA "Art in the Streets" Until 8th August, by boaty on Apr 16, 2011 0:18:47 GMT 1, must consider what a MUSEUM is...
"A museum is an institution that houses and cares for a collection of artifacts and other objects of scientific, artistic, or historical importance and makes them available for public viewing through exhibits that may be permanent or temporary...." (lifted from wiki...)
this MUSEUM show is a great one - as street art's historical importance and contributions should be codified just as many of the other art forms society has deemed culturally significant over time...
Banksy's contributions as displayed are spot on (a bit of the old and some more recent etc etc etc)...he demonstrated great leadership and made the right decision by including himself in this exhibit...his absence would have distracted from the effort...
this from someone who has only spent money and made none at all in the art world (<---ME!)...all me humble O as always, is all...
