PINTA - The Latin American Art Show, by jusdeep on Jun 7, 2011 13:21:17 GMT 1, Thought this might be of interest to someโฆ
PINTA, the Latin American Art Show Over sixty galleries from the Latin American art world have come together for PINTA, an exhibition crowned as THE Latin American Art Show. With works from some of the greatest names in Latin American art itโs easy to see why!
The idea for Pinta came to fruition in 2007 when Mauro Herlitzka, Diego Costa Peuser and Alejandro Zaia put on the inaugural Pinta New York. The success of that event led the trio to consider further edition of Pinta, eventually coming to London last year, in 2010.
A lot of the success has been due to the experience of the founders. Diego Costa Peuser is the editor and publisher of Arte al Dรญa. Through this role Diego is perfectly placed to know about the collectors, artists and events in the Latin American art world. Add to that the nous of Mauro Herlitzka, vice president of MALBA and member of the Frick Collection in New York, and communications/PR specialist Alejandro Zaia, and you have quite a formidable team!
PINTA London 2011 will open itโs doors at Earlโs Court on Monday 6th June, and will feature works by many established Latin American artists, such as abstract painter Carmen Herrera, but also new and emerging talent, Brazilโs Felipe Barbosa being chief among them.
There will be four solo shows; Brazilians Regina Silveira and Waltercio Caldas, Mexicoโs Felipe Ehrenberg and Argentine Eduardo Costa. An additional highlight will be the showcase of Brazilian artist Rivane Neuenschwanderโs work โProsopopeiaโ.
