Banksy on finance, by Wiseblood on Jan 25, 2008 10:32:39 GMT 1, My boss has just told me a wall with a banksy on sold for ยฃ208k So after he got over the shock that i already knew. We got onto the cost of things like this. Will originals or evan the expensive prints be bought with cash or with a loan. I know it differs depending on the buyer, but was just wondering if there was a lot of ISAs being emptied or if there was just a large amount of 0% credit cards out there.

Banksy on finance, by carl on Jan 25, 2008 11:16:52 GMT 1, I think that alot of people were buying on loan and that is now slowing hence the drop in prices. It wil recover and also find a more stable buyer in the process.

Banksy on finance, by angryboy on Jan 25, 2008 16:36:04 GMT 1, I'd never buy anything except with cash.
Art's a luxury item and it seems madness to buy expensive bits of art if you can only afford it by going in debt.

Banksy on finance, by Guest on Jan 25, 2008 19:09:50 GMT 1, Yeah, you guys are doing now what the japanese did in the late 80's/ early 90's. The difference is that the European economy can support this now, whereas all of the borrowing for art created massive instbility in the japanese economy back then.
I too wonder if it will slow down. It hasn't showed many signs in Europe yet, however the market has really taken a hit here in the USA, but we are in a recession after all. Each American owes $60,000 toward the stupid war right now... Fuckin Bush!!!! It'll take us a good 20 years to dig out of this hole.

Banksy on finance, by craigf on Jan 25, 2008 23:15:11 GMT 1, We Brits aren't immune to stupid government decisions. Their latest idea of bailing out the Northern Rock for a cool ยฃ50 Billion means each and every Brit has coughed up around ยฃ800 each (including kids!)
I could have almost bought an unsigned Banksy for that!!!!
