Tell us who he is & we'll tell you if he's trustworthy or not

I'd say it's down to trust and reputation. You're just gonna have to agree both to send prints out at same time (private email rather than pm confirmation might be a good idea) and trust everything goes without hitch! If it's an established member then hopefully you shouldn't have any problems If you're in any way uncomfortable or unsure about the other party then don't do it ...

Trying a swap?, by ryskip on May 9, 2008 14:16:20 GMT 1, There could be a gap in the market here, let's call it Ryan's Swap Shop you both send your prints to a third party i.e. me I'll check them contact both parties and send the prints on, if only one print turns up I'll send it back to the owner. Obviously there will be a handling fee of 5% of market value.
P.S. this isn't an actual offer so please don't send me any prints unless they're a gift.

Trying a swap?, by killerkellah on May 9, 2008 14:16:50 GMT 1, a straight swap you say?
wear sunglasses, a hat and a fake moustache, head somewhere public at sunset. call Webby from public telephone box and say password.
meet for exchange at pre agreed spot, swap tubes simultaneously. don't speak, leave area immediately and make sure you haven't been followed.
easy

HaHa. Or in line with another recent thread you could both get matching Banksy tattoo's which you could simultaneously flash at each other as an added security measure!!!

Trying a swap?, by webby on May 9, 2008 15:54:16 GMT 1, Hi Guys, it is Webby here. I feel fine about the swap, and we appreciate your help. I think swaps are down to trust, but i feel if you exchange home numbers that should be ok?? We will keep you up to date, cheers again.

Trying a swap?, by Heavyconsumer on May 10, 2008 7:37:01 GMT 1, I think it just takes one person to invest a little faith in human nature and send out the print. There's no way of knowing in advance, but by sending something registered post you can sweat for a few days, enjoy the anticipation and get a good buzz when your new art shows up. I feel that this is part of doing a deal on the forum. But it's also a very real part of buying on ebay too. There is nothing to stop people sending out ยฃ6,000 worth of empty tube (or ยฃ60 or ยฃ16,000. Personally I'd rather buy something high value on here than from many if not most ebayers!

Trying a swap?, by DYL4N on May 10, 2008 11:38:20 GMT 1, As above, I did my first ever trade with a forum member (banksman) in November, I had a good feeling and we swapped mobile numbers and talked about the trade. I felt so comfortable that I posted off my Colour Trolleys before he sent me my print. And everthing worked out just fine ;D ITS ALL ABOUT TRUST ;D IN MY OPINION THATS WHAT MAKES THE FORUM SO GREAT. Reckon there is only one person on here I wouldnt do a deal with.

Trying a swap?, by thesewalls on May 12, 2008 20:38:45 GMT 1, i recently purchased a print from a fellow forum member. we spoke on the phone a few times and got to know each other before doing business. may be a bit old school, but i like to know where and whom my artwork is coming from. he was a cool cat too with some great stories. everything went just fine. there are many measures you could take to try and secure a solid deal, but in the end i completely agree with heavyconsumer (haha, and DYL4N, just read that one)...a cell phone, land line, email address, and home shipping address (not a PO BOX) don't hurt though...
