paint help, by moleman on Mar 18, 2009 18:56:16 GMT 1, hello not put of from my lack of interest in my minis i have a new idea much more fun ha ha ha But i have a problem i had the same problem in the minis my light colours wont go over black very well apart from silver and black wont go over that cant win.
its a multi layer stencil of about 5 or six but i wany some white on the top of them all. So is it my cheap paint or do i need to cut better stencils so the over lapping is minimal and it kind of goes together a a jigsaw rather than a stencil so to speak
cheers in advance
molie

I have never had a problem with this using both montana and belton, i think maybe some cheaper paints will be thinner making the black show through.
What paint are you using?

paint help, by moleman on Mar 18, 2009 19:19:33 GMT 1, just little cans from the local DIY shop it the mo didnt think i would like cutting so much
Thanks hero for some reason on those canvas boards the paint takes reasonably well like on the meines you have, not great but ok. But on paper it dont work at all well. would love to do all my workon canvas boards but if i screw up it gets pricey
I could cut more intricut stencils like a puzzle but was hoping not to have to

paint help, by hero on Mar 18, 2009 20:15:23 GMT 1, basically...that paint is very watery, montana gold or molotow are good because they are pigment bases-so will cover black easily
they are also matt so look better when stenciled

I found this place to be good value and often order from here: www.thebench504.com/
Birmingham based. I'd agree with all the advice your getting above.

paint help, by T*3 on Mar 18, 2009 23:37:48 GMT 1, woo yeh thebench seems the best value for small to medium orders. try monstercolors.com for super thick paint takes ages to dry tho.
btw i used to always use that plasticote paint and think its great but cost double the price of belton and monster so why bother.
post some pic's of what you have made
