help needed , by seba on Aug 2, 2009 14:09:11 GMT 1, Can anyone name me some relevant studies, books, articles or institutes?
Keywords:
- youth culture (graffiti, hip hopโฆ) - youth protests, demonstrations,(race) riots,.. - youth unemployment, migration, marginalizationโฆ ... in the UK
Iยด m not from the UK, but I have to write an essay. Any help (finding relevant sources) would be great.
I know this is an art forum, so sorry for wasting the one or the others time.

help needed , by Deleted on Aug 4, 2009 11:56:29 GMT 1, What years are you covering? The nature of protest has changed tremendously, not just the subject matter, but the way the authorities combat it.
If you look at the riots curiousgeorge lists both the reasons and the participants vary greatly. There is no single answer.
How big an essay is it because it's a huge subject.
There won't be much about Britain's youth today, chiefly because they're not really history, yet. But also because they are in general a very self-centred group, the 'me, me, me' generation. Any protest has been prevented by the creation of a disposable income available to a a generation with no concerns about unemployment, easy access to cheap loans without any concequences ( until now), a hedonistic culture selling them cheap alcohol and the idea of no responsibility.
You could try websites of national newspapers here in the UK - The Independent, The Guardian, The Times - as they will often have articles based on studies/reports on social trends the government commission to try and anticipate future policy..
