Signal Gallery, by fingerz on Feb 18, 2011 16:41:32 GMT 1, Already into our second show of the year and our third in the new gallery, 2011 promises to be another very busy year for us. Despite the recession, we continue to thrive and plan new ways of making our shows interesting and stimulating to our buyers and friends.
Our current show features the work of five very interesting and diverse artists. Lots of 'firsts' for us in this show. We are delighted to be showing the dynamic, colourful work of Andrew McAttee for the first time. He's produced three stunning new works. Also showing the work of Sean Madden for the first time. He's our first sculptor. Now we have the space there will be more 3D work in future shows. Next, John Squire (of Stone Roses fame) in his first group show. He's usually travelling the world with his stunning solo shows. Finally, we're showing Joram Roukes from Holland for the first time in the UK. His powerful and imaginative works have caused quite a stir already. He is definitely an artist to look out for. All this and Dan Baldwin too. The link to the show, which is open till 5th March, is here: www.signalgallery.com/mixed_doubles.htm
In March, Jonathan Darby solo show, 'Favela' promises to be an exciting event. We're sworn to secrecy but suffice it to say, there will be a lot going on. The Private view is the 10th March. One not to be missed, I'd say.
In April we are will be showing the work of Robbo and five of his team, including Mark Sinclair, whose work 'Age of Shiva' caused a stir in the national press with it's depiction of one of the bombed buses in the 7/7 terrorist attack. Robbo's also well publicised war with Banksy continues and has led to him become a household name himself. The show will be a celebration of the teams work since the 80s and also a showcase for the art they are creating when they're not on the street. Channel 4 have filmed a documentary about Robbo and this will be aired to coincide with the show.
In May we are showing the stunning paintings of Elinor Evans. Not new to gallery, but her first solo show, Elinor is one of the most accomplished painters of her generation. Since leaving the Royal College of Art 6 years years ago her work has been seen all over the UK and in Spain (where she now lives).
June sees our Guy Denning inspired show, with artists depicting their artistic heroes. The idea came from Guy himself and he will be providing us with at least six new portraits (including one of his friend Anthony Micallef) for the show. Shepard Fairey himself is providing us with work other names so far are Dale Grimshaw, C215, Fran Williams and Dan Baldwin. Other exciting names will be added to this list. We'll keep you informed.
Later in the year will include solo shows by C215 and Dale Grimshaw. Beyond Punk II beckons in the autumn - bigger and better!!

Signal Gallery, by closeencounters on Feb 18, 2011 19:13:04 GMT 1, Sounds like Signal have got some really good shows planned for this year with some great artists, McAttee, Baldwin, Denning... I've not had a chance to check out the group show yet, but Joram Roukes work looks pretty cool so hoping to make it along before the 5th.
This bit sounds interesting though, especially given the context... 'In April we are will be showing the work of Robbo and five of his team, including Mark Sinclair, whose work 'Age of Shiva' caused a stir in the national press with it's depiction of one of the bombed buses in the 7/7 terrorist attack.' Seems odd that one of Robbo's team had such a platform at Marks & Stencils??

We're actually in the same building, Zetland House, that POW were in. I believe Banksy worked here before he was famous as well, in another capacity. Our main entrance is in Paul Street.
Got a very nice huge C215 piece in the courtyard of the building. Nice and protected - until Robbo gets here of course.........

Signal Gallery, by jakek on Feb 25, 2011 14:15:17 GMT 1, I've never been to signal gallery but they've had some great artists show there.
Like Herakut i was really impressed by a some of the case pieces.
And if I win the lottery i think one of the first pieces i'd buy would be by David Le Fleming

I've not seen him mentioned much (if at all) on the forum but I love his style and medium.
