-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- danny hate to f**k you around but someone came to the store last night with 1200 quid, I couldn't turn it down. sorry spence so without even speaking to me or asking if i'd be prepared to pay the higher price he sells it to someone else. so much for my word is my bond? he quoted a couple of forum mebers who vouched for him said he was a good guy even sent me a text saying he was Kosher and ran a business that he wouldn't want to bring into disrepute. I know there's no point crying over spilt milk but its really F**ked me off
any words of wisdom or sympathy will be greatly recieved.

Well put Wiz; this is life I guess - if someone offered me an extra 20% on top for something I would be hard pushed to turn it down. Dog eat dog etc. Out of courtesy he should have offered you the chance to buy it at the increased risk but from his perspective you may not have turned up with the cash so when someone offers you a guaranteed sale, it's hard to say no, especially at a higher price. Like Wiz said, it ain't over until money exchanges, there's no contract of sale so if ever I find something I want, especially if it's at a good price, I move knowing that if I don't there's a risk that I'll miss out, whether a price has been agreed or not.
EDIT: sorry, not what you wanted to hear...

For once Wiz & H I disagree.
Extremely poor form. Nevermind offering you it at ยฃ1200 he/she should have stuck to the original deal. I have been offered more money for pieces after agreeing a deal and I have never pulled out of the deal. Once I say yes as a buyer or seller thats it.

Sorry to hear you missed out on this one Dan.
I'd have to disagree with a few posters here though 'money exchanges' & 'dog eat dog etc'.
From my perspective the seller made a verbal contract with you and in law this is binding just as any written contract would be, the trouble usually with enforcement is that people usually don't have an audit trail of any kind but that isn't the case here.
Giving you the 'chance' to buy at an increased price would be just as much of a piss take - you've already agreed the price, you're not at a Dutch auction!
I hope something comes along which offers a better alternative for you mate.....

fuming of sw4, by hal9001 on Jan 13, 2011 18:36:50 GMT 1, Let's not castigate this poster for calling out someone else. Who is to say what is poor form these days? Is not all fair in love and war?
There are tens of thousands of reach back spank bank materials on the webz posted by lovers scorned! Do you go out of your way to call poor form on them? Id rather sit back, relax, break out the lanolin and popcorn and wank!
I mean who are we to judge someone else for airing their dirty laundry in public? Have you any idea how many times people flake out on craigslist ebay or any other social trading site. ITS MIND BOGGELING the amount of gall, lack of tact and disrespect that goes on out there over an extra few smackers, bones, or clams or whatever you call them.
Hold people accountable for their actions, they understand the repercussions of their decisions, and so this OP calls them out on it and you cry foul, screw you let the OP vent!

Agreed the number should be removed but whether he was approached before or after the seller agreed a deal with daniel3886.
"done deal ! happy for it to go to someone that wants it. let me know time etx"
Just my opinion but I think if this is the full story its very poor form.

cgi.ebay.co.uk/dran-art-buffing-original-canvas-/230572559831
It really sucks. I imagine that he had your phone number as well.. It kinda sucks more especially for ยฃ200.
It already happened to me as well and I stuck with the original deal.
Of course, for a subtential amount of money (like x2 or more). I can imagine that they could be tempted to go somewhere else but they could have at least let you know, may you still be interested. That was indeed a great piece and a nice opportunity.

Very bad form from Spence though.
