Just waiting to hear back from the printers as they are scanning the piece and working out the best way to reproduce it so it's an exact copy. I imagine it will be a Giclee or Lithographic as you won't get the level of detail needed from a Screenprint!

If somebody can suggest away to do it let me know but after talking to printers the only way is a four colour process which means the piece would be blurry on the fine detail and the details are very important to C's work!

C215 Dreaming Nina Print, by skelly on May 21, 2008 0:07:51 GMT 1, Split fountain the red ink, so that it will be a mixed affect of different reds as the background is. This would save a screen I think, then just the girl in that color and a black screen.
I agree with the crowd, this would look great screen printed, and I feel like c215 would translate great to silkscreens

C215 Dreaming Nina Print, by grantb on May 21, 2008 11:00:41 GMT 1, too much prints going on sale and i wont have enough for them all.

also have to prepare yourself for an unexpected banksy release.

C215 Dreaming Nina Print, by newmang on May 21, 2008 11:17:45 GMT 1, Great to see the power of the forum, swinging the release to a screenprint. Just sick that I'm going to be queing outside the Chelsea Flower Show at 3pm tomorrow keeping Mrs N happy. Really loved C215 work at the Bristol show recently and would have loved this print.

C215 Dreaming Nina Print, by Opus Underground on May 21, 2008 12:25:29 GMT 1, As explained the best quality would be a Giclee as it would be the closest match to the original with detail and colour. A screenprint wont be as sharp due to the limited number of dots per inch you can have on a screen but it will have a screenprinted quality of it's own!

C215 Dreaming Nina Print, by Jef Aerosol on May 21, 2008 14:27:02 GMT 1, I always wonder why people prefer screenprints to lithos or giclee etc... A print is NOT an original ! So, the target is to get as close as possible to the original piece. The big problem with spraypaint and stencils is that the "spray" effect is hard to reproduce. Sometimes, with screenprints, the result can be closer to the image we use BEFORE cutting and painting the stencil than to the resulting painting itself (dunno if I'm very clear here ! got me ?), and it doesn't bring much ! I tend to think that originals are better especially since the stencil method allows reproduction in itself. I did some screenprints and I'm happy with them, but I'm wondering whether it wouldn't be simpler to hand stencil the image 50 or 100 times, so that the spray effect is kept rather than reproducing it with either printing method... My next "print" will be hand sprayed. Obviously, handsprayed multiples can't be editions of 500 ! (or it might mean re-cutting the stencil) On the other hand, a nice screenprint can really be lovely... For instance, I'm extremely happy with the "sitting kid" print we did with Blind Angle. I directly sprayed on the transparent acetate so that it really had that sprayed effect (and I handsprayed the red arrow so it was half print- half original) In the case of Chris's piece, I personnally think that it would be a shame to get rid of all the intricacy and rich details of the background... That nice painting deserves faithful reproduction and i would go for a giclee. I think that believing that screenprint is more "noble" than litho or giclee is a mistake, unless the screenprint is thought and worked as such and becomes an actual tool in the hands of the artist himself, which is not the case for this piece of Chris, i think.
