What to buy? Herakut Wanted!!!, by jonti1 on Aug 1, 2009 14:01:33 GMT 1, Looking for some help and advice. I am torn between a couple of Banksy pieces at the mo and not sure what I can expect to get for my money.
There are some great early unsigned pieces available at the moment and I am aware of market prices on later prints but what signed pieces should I expect to get with ยฃ4k in the current market?
Would be interested in peoples views as I may be overlooking something which I thought was out of my budget.
My preference is with older pieces but the prices I often see are in galleries which I don't believe often reflect current trends.
If someone is thinking of selling something I may be interested in feel free to pm but I will not be able to complete until end of month if ยฃ4k but sizable deposit etc immediately available Thanks Jon

What to buy? Herakut Wanted!!!, by dh on Aug 1, 2009 14:24:28 GMT 1, IMO signed would be your best bet if you are looking to hold value, 4k is a nice amount to pick a up a Banksy at the moment as it seems 3k plus prints seem to struggle. Maybe a Gold Flags or edition of 28 Trolleys could be picked up with a bit of change left over. If it's all about the image you could pick up any unsigned print for under 4k.
Good luck and enjoy your search

What to buy? Herakut Wanted!!!, by Sliding on the Walls on Aug 1, 2009 17:26:15 GMT 1, Don't listen to what other people deem to be good, buy what you like the look of. Something that's going to look good on your wall and compliment all your other art. Why does it have to be Banksy? Are you just buying for the signature/artist? Why not visit some of the online galleries, check out some other artists' work and find something a bit different.

What to buy? Herakut Wanted!!!, by jonti1 on Aug 1, 2009 18:23:34 GMT 1, I am looking for Banksy as would like another which compliment the others, would like a key piece and feel now is more affordable time to buy. I do have works by other artists too but only so many walls.
With regards to the RC also mentioned this is one of my current considerations as a great piece along with barcode but having the u/s and s issue.
Would like more rat's (signed)but not sure what these are going for now.

What to buy? Herakut Wanted!!!, by Heavyconsumer on Aug 1, 2009 20:17:15 GMT 1, Barcode's my favourite Banksy print by a country mile, but I have no idea what the current market price would be for a signed one. Last Post has an exceedingly nice unsigned one he might part with for a sensible offer. You'd prob' have enough left to pick up one of the more recent signed prints too!

What to buy? Herakut Wanted!!!, by notworthit on Aug 1, 2009 20:35:00 GMT 1, I really dont' get why someone would pay four grand for a piece of paper that 100 other people have also got. Buy an original piece of artwork. An original Josh Keyes or Craola. But hey, it's your cash.

I agree, but would go for herakut. I would say ยฃ4k is about spot on for a beautiful canvass. Not sure you would get a JK og for ยฃ4k mind, even if you could find one for sale. c

What to buy? Herakut Wanted!!!, by jonti1 on Aug 1, 2009 23:29:19 GMT 1, Good choice with the Matt Small and something I have been looking at for later in the year but at the moment would like one other Banksy whilst I feel prices are more affordable and prints becoming more available. Signed RC and laugh now are the two prints I would love to own yet unaffordable so I am looking for that last print to add to my Banksy prints through secondary market. Talking of originals, would also like a Herakut at some point.

Not the best example, but cgi.ebay.co.uk/Josh-Keyes-Tree-of-Knowledge-Original-Painting_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ290330048731
The general consensus over on JK forum is a $6.5k - $10k secondary mkt prices. But makes no odds anyway really does it, as spenie says, they're as rare as makum millionaires

What to buy? Herakut Wanted!!!, by hlarmy on Aug 1, 2009 23:33:04 GMT 1, A part of me thinks you should buy some large originals from upcoming artists but it's far more of a gamble (although potential for greater appreciation in value if you chose carefully, and are very lucky!).
Otherwise, you should stick to signed Banksy's as he's the one from this movement / fad that has the best chance of still being known in 10 / 20 years time.
ยฃ4k should buy you one of a few classic, low editioned prints (unlike some of the latest releases). Don't bother with unsigned prints.

Fair play wizz, last time I checked gold was over 20k a kilo which I thought was at the top end. Im still gutted I passed on buying a lump when it was 'only' 14k a kg

What to buy? Herakut Wanted!!!, by linkd95 on Aug 2, 2009 23:25:14 GMT 1, You should buy a KAWS, just convert the ยฃ4000 into dollars which is round about $5000-5600 correct me if im wrong on the currency converter, but you should be able to get a very small original for that or definately a few prints or something or you could get a Parla or maybe a Hush.
