ok people - have a think about this.

flow of ... system meltdown*

POW put up a release - they do not say how many there
will be but only that it will be available on a given timeframe
starting at ..lets say mon.

terms of engagement as they have now....

They decide - in advance - to close it off on wed.

So we, if we're keen, select our print - or leave it.
Then just like that it closes on wed - without us of course knowing
when timewise or how many in the print run.

So we dont get to know how large the run is - which if we like it we don't
mind and the scalpers likewise - only they run the risk as before of
being chopped by the ebay/rat-catching software.


The longer the timeframe the larger the run - the less the scalpers make etc - not forgetting - prints they want to have larger runs - either due to
quality price - feedback etc..

I'd reckon it'd work (might do ... might not..) - oh and of course we'd
know the size of the run when we get the print

oh and as for signed prints - they could address this by ... * not* putting signed prints up at the start - but only during the timeframe - so like before if you're lucky you're lucky - if you buy unsigned you're out - if you hang on you might be lucky..

How would you price up a run of prints that could a run of ten or ten thousand ?

I would not be happy paying £500 for one of ten thousand, you have to set out the amount in the edition at the beginning.

Jimmy Cauty has done some thing similar to this but the runs did have a maximum number from the beginning.
The most popular prints all sold out and the least popular did not and they ended up being the rarest pieces.

I wouldn't - they would (pow) - whether I bought it - would be up to me.

The question is would you buy a print for £500 if you didn't know
how large the print run was ?

The onus then falls on us - pow would know when it closes.
We would be in this case - quite rightly - in the dark.
And so would those keenest to make money - be likewise.
Bear in mind here pow have several objectives...
get the print out
discourage blatant ebay profiteering
not rip people off..

..still think it's possible !!

I think there would be legal implications to something like that. It sounds like an awful lot of work and we know how well POW inform us.
