I have a Sony Alpha 5000 which I love. But when it comes to cameras first you have to decide what kind of camera do you want?
point and shoot? dslr? Mirrorless? The s5000 is a mirrorless that gives you the quality of a dslr in a smaller size. It comes with different kinds of lenses for certain types of photography. You should be able to get by on a kit lense.
IMO, best cameras for the point and shoot Canon G5 is pretty good, along with the sony RX line or Canon G line.
For DSLR, there's Nikon, Canon
for mirrorless, Sony, Fuji, Olympus. Canon doesn't make good mirrorles cameras.
Also keep degree of difficuty in mind with dslr being the highest.
