Trades - best practice, by showbeagle on Jan 14, 2017 16:47:18 GMT 1, Was wondering on how could you ensure that you would get the print you are trading/swapping with an out of town collector. Is it purely based on trusting the other person?

Whilst never completely fool proof, some suggestions: Ask for references and take them up. Referees should be established members. Only trade with members who have been around for a while and whose posts suggest they are trustworthy. If high value, take the time to meet face to face, even if out if town (lost track of the number of deals I've completed in motorway service stations!). Don't accept stock photos of pieces. Satisfy yourself that the other person has the piece they are trading. Very carefully plan for all eventualities eg agree what will happen if either piece is damaged in transit (if not meeting face to face).
Good luck.

Trades - best practice, by wakeskater on Jan 14, 2017 17:36:31 GMT 1, Not trying to hijack this thread but see that it's related. I know there is a Art Wanted section and an Art For Sale section but is there a specific section where one could offer trades?

But surely that would take organisation.

Trades - best practice, by NYart on Jan 14, 2017 21:10:34 GMT 1, If you both have the cash.. paypal each other the value so essentially your both actually are buying peices from each other and you'll have that buyers protection should one not follow through on their end. It'll cost you both 3% but I'd imagine that's worth the insurance.
