Advice Needed: French Cleat Hanging System, by South Bound on Jan 17, 2016 16:27:39 GMT 1, I just got a new piece that has a wood French Cleat attached to the back. The wall side of the French Cleat was not provided.
Does anyone have any advice cutting my own to match?
Or any advice / suggestions on French Cleat in general?
Would it be worth having my framer attach a hanging wire to the French Cleat and hanging the traditional way or is that to risky?

Advice Needed: French Cleat Hanging System, by trapnel1 on Jan 17, 2016 16:29:34 GMT 1, I'm just looking at exactly the same problem. I was wondering if there is a standard dimension for these. I haven't been able to find anywhere to buy the wall element and I don't have the tools (or expertise) to cut my own precision match.....

Advice Needed: French Cleat Hanging System, by Deleted on Jan 17, 2016 22:08:31 GMT 1, you could just put a screw or 2 in the wall and hang it off of those
or get some MDF and a circular saw, and cut at around 30 degrees
i'd use a couple of screws

Advice Needed: French Cleat Hanging System, by Deleted on Jan 17, 2016 22:12:01 GMT 1, if the picture is really big, i.e over 5' or really heavy, i.e over 25kg i possibly wouldn't just use screws

Advice Needed: French Cleat Hanging System, by The Jokers Puppet on Jan 17, 2016 22:58:35 GMT 1, I had a similar issue and bought some metal cleats called Z bars from a company called Lion. They interlock in the same way. You may need 2 or 3 on the frame at the back and same on the wall depending on length of artwork.
