Street Art Article - WSJ , by daveart on Sept 23, 2015 13:52:50 GMT 1, This is not a bad article and i am all for various artists getting some recognition. The only bummer for me was the gallery person they interviewed drops this gem..
"For big-name artists, “you need at least $1 million to start a decent collection,” says Jean-Marc Scialom, founder of the Nukod Gallery in Paris, which focuses on street art. “If a street-art collector doesn’t have this money, he can start with just $99 for a nice print.”
so you either need 1 million or $99. How discouraging.
I guess it ups the conversation that pops up here on the board periodically "how would you spend $10,000 or various amounts." So, how would YOU spend $1million on street art? Me, id buy one Banksy for $20K and buy a house on the beach to hang it in. does that qualify as a collection?

Street Art Article - WSJ , by Archer Designs 13 on Sept 24, 2015 5:46:23 GMT 1, I think that some of the points were good, calling out the rise in popularity of "urban contemporary art" as a result of situations beyond simply Banksy, and about the change in context when a wall is carved out for an exhibition.
However, these articles inevitably come back to money, which is unsurprising and so similar to the devolving nature of many posts on all the art forums I frequent (okay, stalk :-P)
