Artnet News - 100 Most influential Women in Art, by daveart on Oct 20, 2014 16:16:56 GMT 1, I normally tell people not to be too critical of other people's efforts. And yet...... i am moved to posting a critique of Artnet news on their selection of BAMBI - The female Banksy .. in their list of powerful woman in Art. Obviously i dont know who Bambi is .. but .. i so far havent found her work to be powerful, important, or interesting. Now to be fair the #5 is not in ranking order... its alphabetical .. but its just shocking to even see this name on the list.. So far no Swoon (caledonia curry) ? Maya Hayuk ? Audrey Kawasaki ?

I would hear of some emails going to artnet news letting them know if they want to dabble in Urban Art and be taken seriously.... they may need a bit more research. So send them the name of a female artist that actually matters to the scene... sadly very few maybe but certainly not. BAMBI the female Banksy.

Artnet News - 100 Most influential Women in Art, by Deleted on Nov 6, 2014 13:04:50 GMT 1, to be brutally fair, it is about influence rather than talent, hence the endless listing of Oligarch and Middle eastern money /trophy wives/ family members. The art business is still dominated by rich old men - condense that list down to influential artists instead of facilitators, (and chosen by their peers) and it makes interesting reading. Apart from bambi of course - that is a triumph of marketing over talent.

Artnet News - 100 Most influential Women in Art, by adewilliams on Nov 6, 2014 13:25:24 GMT 1, Wouldn't surprise me to see a Bambi Cartier collaboration project in the near future. Whatever it would nice to get some kind of explanation.

Artnet News - 100 Most influential Women in Art, by met on Nov 6, 2014 16:19:21 GMT 1, Well, the list is presented by the fashion brand "Cartier". How serious can you take the list then. I haven't yet had a chance to view and consider the list.
However, what I am in a position to comment on is your argument, which is uninformed. This is mentioned for information only, without malice or hard feelings.

Artnet News - 100 Most influential Women in Art, by daveart on Nov 6, 2014 17:27:17 GMT 1, for what its worth .. i emailed a comment to Artnet .. and a representative emailed me back and gave a personal opinion that they made a mistake with this. i hope someone farther up the chain got the message as well..
i pointed out the big problem is that forever she can say "artnet voted me a top 100 female art influencer in the world" uggh.. i just about threw up even typing that..

Artnet News - 100 Most influential Women in Art, by Feral Things on Nov 6, 2014 18:47:55 GMT 1, I know these things are very subjective and that they're probably just a click-bait thing anyway, but where's Brigit Riley and Jenny Saville? Riley has been deeply influential for several generations of artists and has been a trailblazer for women in art and Saville is regularly mentioned by her contemporaries as one of the greatest living painters. Admittedly, I'm a big fan of both but that aside they should surely both be on any kind of list of 100 influential people in art at the moment. I think the numbers of curators and gallerists perhaps says more about Artnet than it does about art today.

I always have a sense of feeling these are biased, just like the public can make a top 100 list. I like articles that would mention artists that had an significant influence in the world of art instead of who is number one or number 50 or number 100.

Artnet News - 100 Most influential Women in Art, by jlf on Nov 7, 2014 10:55:33 GMT 1, While Bambi, isn't very good at art she is great at hype. There is almost always a thread about her on here and winning things like this with little or no artistic talent you have to take your hat off to her PR team

Artnet News - 100 Most influential Women in Art, by Deleted on Nov 7, 2014 16:02:35 GMT 1, The list is presented by Cartier and to me looks like a butt buffing list to please rich women.
Artnet and everything else is about making money and all these people feed off each other.
So take these lists for what they are.
Bambi was also heavily promoted in those Channel 4 Four Rooms videos with the Banksy art for sale.
Just because she can afford a good pr agent and also knows people in the media.
Bit like the Daily mail with the regular promotion of some scrawny model called Carla something or other.
People who own these papers and media probably have a Financial interest.
