Insuring Prints, by tobomoore on Oct 13, 2014 9:53:25 GMT 1, After some advice as to how you guys deal with Insuring your prints.
I have three signed Banksy prints, and I am not going to say which ones as I don't want people thinking I am trying to ascertain values to sell them (which im not). I also have a signed Invader.
My question is, for Insurance purposes, how do you estimate value? With Banksy prints going through the roof recently, and assuming that this is a continuous trend, I assume it is best to add a sum on to the current market price when doing an insurance valuation. Eg if a print is currently selling at ยฃ7000, would you add ยฃ1000, ยฃ2000 etc. on to that figure when insuring?
Be interested to know your thoughts.

Most insurance will cover you for a total figure, say 100k and will not expect a list of individual prints. Though should you lose them they would expect you to have a detailed inventory.
So the individual prices become irrelevant

Insuring Prints, by badgersurf on Oct 13, 2014 11:38:16 GMT 1, It depends on the insurance company, i went for one that would replace liek for like where possible, so had to declaire any goods over ยฃ1000. A lot of the companies I looked at would offer couchers to high street shops to replace any items or something like 75% of the value in cash. So becareful you check this as I don't thing you will be able to replace your Banksy with Argos vouchers!

After all, in the unfortunate circumstance of something happening they'll be the people making the decision on whether to pay out or not.
Art/valuables cover can vary dramatically from policy to policy, which can include the type of evidence required both before and at the time of any claim. Some insurers are much more flexible than others.
