Paddle8 Auctions ๐บ๐ฒ BANKRUPT , by jluhiex on Aug 18, 2017 3:59:22 GMT 1, Determining shipping cost based on the hammer price, not on the size of the items is totally unacceptable. So an Invader print is costing more to ship than a Faile just because it has a higher hammer price, even though the print size is smaller, how does that even make sense? From my own experience, Artnet has a much more reasonable approach to shipping. It's based on size. Most smaller to medium size pieces ship for $225. After that it's custom shipping quotes which I find ridiculously priced.

Paddle8 Auctions ๐บ๐ฒ BANKRUPT , by jluhiex on Aug 16, 2017 19:45:51 GMT 1, Paddle 8 uses a 3rd party shipper. They pickup from seller's house, package, and ship. Everything is packaged professionally BUT it is insanely pricey. If they deem the item oversized expect to pay over $800. They wanted $825 to ship a 120cm x 100cm piece which I found utterly ridiculous.

Josh Keyes, Implosion, August 5th, Thinkspace Gallery, by jluhiex on Aug 8, 2017 22:11:59 GMT 1, Beat me to it! I only just picked up the email about this just now. I am really keen to own something by him but I feel differently about this image every time I see it. Hmm... How are some of them already up on the bay for $499.99 though?!!
Sold in person at show opening. Probably held a few back for online sales.

Katrin Fridriks ๐ฎ๐ธ Reykjavรญk, Iceland โข Abstract Art , by jluhiex on Jul 28, 2017 20:21:51 GMT 1, I live the Whatson Dancer print and have been after one for a while, but there's no way I'd trade my Fridriks print for a Dancer. The Fridriks is an absolutely amazing print from a technical standpoint and looks stunning in person. Still trying to find someone to fix my damaged edges on mine unfortunately. were you not offered a replacement gmidd or was it a refund or nothing type scenario? Refund or pay to have it restored.

Harland Miller Artwork, VALUATION, by jluhiex on Jul 18, 2017 23:29:36 GMT 1, Artwork at that price bracket will probably have to be professionally appraised and be done at replacement value which is typically the highest. If the insured feels the appraised value is low then add the additional coverage to the rider and pay the premium. But as a reference this original sold for 30k gbp hammer recently (Not a dancing penguin but still an amazing original)
Harland Miller (b.1964)
I am the one I have been waiting for
Oil and pencil on paper, 2011, signed in pencil at lower right, 152 x 122cm (59 7/8 x 48in)
Provenance:
Reflex Gallery, Amsterdam, 2011.
Again, appraise it for what you like but the insurance company will not take a forum's valuation as credible.

WCP The West Country Prince, by jluhiex on Jul 12, 2017 18:45:10 GMT 1, The fact that you lump the two together shows you have no semblance of being a human being. Like everything you've ever owned is 100% authentic, conflict free...gtfo your high horse douche. I stated that both are crimes. Criminal copyright infringement carries a penalty of up to ten years in prison. It's not a minor offense. To repeat, I don't think it's as bad as kiddie porn. But I do think it's absurd to try to justify intellectual property theft while personally profiting from it. Also, I think you're not quite right in the head. Letting the West Country Prince advertise here is a bit like letting someone advertise kiddie porn for sale.
I'm pretty sure anyone that would make a statement like that isn't right in the head.

WCP The West Country Prince, by jluhiex on Jul 12, 2017 18:25:01 GMT 1, How do you as a human being not know the difference between child pornography and IP law? I know the difference. WCP The West Country Prince, by jluhiex on Jul 12, 2017 18:16:01 GMT 1, Many artists including Banksy have copied images from other more famous artists work, so isn't that also "profiting of someone else's artwork without permission" How do you own an art forum and not know the difference between copyright infringement and fair use? Honest question.ย

Sure, it's illegal and unethical. But we all make our own choices. This site is just for sharing information. Not to judge what's right or wrong.
LOL your comparing unauthorized reproductions to child pornography which carries a 20 year sentence, emotionally ravages families and is beyond reprehensible. I guess we're lumping child pornographers with something as petty as copyright infringement.

Dran exhibition in Paris, by jluhiex on Jul 6, 2017 5:44:02 GMT 1, Hi I think Dran is the most difficult artist to contact directly and he wouldn't "sell" anything. He is discreet, Doesn't like the art world and the money around, he is focused on painting and has been pissed off by some greedy gallerists in the past. He now protects himself behind trusted people. If you want this piece, secondary market is the only way in my view. I don't know if I'd contact him, directly. It ruined him for me. Long story short, I contacted him about a piece that I loved that pictured a macaque with 'Human Sucks' written on it. I asked if he'd release it as a print etc....We had a bit of back and forth and I told him how much I loved his work with primates, as I'd studied primates in Central America and Africa. Off hand, I mentioned that my dog had recently passed and then offered to send me an original. I offered to pay but he didn't want money. A few days later he asked that I give him my number. He called and we spoke for about 30 mins and it was primarily him yelling at me for telling him about my dog and trying to get frees**t etc...It was bizarre, as I had just asked if he was making a print of the piece and told him how much I liked his work. We had some banter and then HE offered to send something. I said no at first and then offered to pay. Such a strange interaction. This was 6 years ago, this month.ย Still don't have any Dran in the collection. It sucks, as I really like his art but have no idea why he decided to go off on me. Save
Now that's a story!

Remove banksy pieces during open house?, by jluhiex on Jul 5, 2017 23:23:20 GMT 1, 95% of the people will not know what you have. If it adds to the decor and interior design of the place then leave it. Staging can typically get you 10-20% more in offered price and get your house sold much faster. Color palette, lines, placement can all help but this can also easily be done with art that is 1/100 the cost. Most prospective buyers are not looking at your art but the layout, number of bed/bath, feng shui etc. When I go to open houses/showings I personally like the simplier is better approach. I never found the saloon wall clutter appealing. If anything keep the walls simple and take down some art.
As always, if your afraid of potential thieves then only have agents accompany prospective clients, no supra box, prequal buyers etc.

Heritage Auctions ๐บ๐ฒ, by jluhiex on Jul 5, 2017 22:37:43 GMT 1, Heritage pricing is a bit wonky (on the higher side) but shipping was done directly through the auction house and very reasonable priced. They shipped out a 90cm x 80cm sheet flat packed for $45usd. I can only speak for domestic sales as I am US based. They are a decent sized auction house with 5 branches located in the US, and they actual take physical consignments rather than artnet/paddle8 middlemen auctions. Hopefully you can get things sorted.

Not sure if it's been edited but seller had it listed for lower but raised it when he got higher offers. Good guy to deal with.

But I own one and haven't tried to actively buy one so I don't know, maybe someone who has been looking would know better? You'd be doing well to find a trolleys at ยฃ6.5k, around ยฃ7.5-8k these days.

Invader Invasion Kit MSF, by jluhiex on Jun 28, 2017 23:12:02 GMT 1, OTI never said you couldn't sell it...and even if they made you sign a contract would they legally be able to enforce it? I've seen Damien Hirst spot printe challenge print personalized to each individual sell for $25k. You have personalized Kaws books selling for $1500. Just because they aren't selling at this moment doesn't mean someone else won't buy it later down the line. The only thing we can compare it to is current market value of comparable pieces. Or comparable market prices for the exact same pieces...from today. What were they again?? IK1-16 should give you a start.
