I don't think we can accuse anyone for pure copying. If you really look, most artist have gotten their ideas somewhere. In the stencil world, my opinion is that we just have to accept that something looks the same or some ideas are used more then once.
That said, i have not seen Dolk copy much from others in the past.

True,. I thought the same. Wouldnt be surprised to see MBW comne out with a similar print, once again riding coattails of truly great artists who are far from hype machines.

Winner is quite obvious. He draws a satirical comparison between the art scene and a competition where you'd get rewarded with $$$ (the winner's medal has been switched for a chain and $ sign).
I have my own interpretation for Toy, but I'm doubtful it could relate to Dolk's original intentions. It's harder to see on the print, which is a let down for me, but clearly on the original, the man is dressed up with tie and suit, even has a pen in his hands. He has to represent the corporate/hardworker man (father?) who's not there for her girl. It would fit the TOY = Thinking Of You title..

liking that lol! dolk the mean ass money machine.
i must admit i love both images though, £200 - £250 is the norm for a decent print from POW/LAZ though nowdays. Dolk is quality, just a pity he cannot pass on some of the saving from being in a smaller outfit like HMP.

Might jump on "winner", think it would fit in nicely in the hallway

Toy is also pretty good but the guys hand is very clumsily drawn, all i see is that HAND... and why is he missing the pipe or pen in the print edition?

Always a sucker for his aesthetic but Toy looks crude compared to the og, and any meaning to the piece seems tenuous at best. Overpriced by at least £100 for me, but I suppose if people will pay it on the secondary market then he might as well benefit directly so good luck to him.

I also agree that Toy is the stronger of the two. If you had told me MBW had done Winner I wouldn't have doubted your word for a minute. Toy will be gone quickly..Winner not far behind...so says my tea leaves.

Toy is a pretty lame graf writer hence the tagging of the square bloke either the taggers prefer his girl or she loves the original figure.(even though everyone else thinks hes a toy)

Exactly my thoughts....hang it from the ceiling in a nice Nordic timber frame, then place ya self underneath it horizontally(the rug was a nice touch, thanks spenie) with an eye patch on, squint the good eye....voila!
As for TOY, you often see that written next to graffiti. It means inexperienced or incompetent tagger...the graf pecking order has decided your work is a toy.

For those who do not understand the language, he explains his motives, his way of working and the motivation behind some of the images.
These 10 originals(from Oslo show i think it was) are priced £10 000 each
What i really did love was the way he described the story behind the thin pai woman. Would be nice to be able to read the story behind all his work.
I would love to see a book release from Dolk with photos of street work and the way to gallery work. A story behind the images would be very interesting. Its one thing to analyze them for yourself, but it gets a whole new meaning when you get it from the artist.
