I concur... That's the real deal right there!
Am I right in thinking it's a 2012 version as opposed to the originals though.

i would agree - from the early corrupted oils series i'm guessing...

Banksy GWB Sotheby's June 27th, by Hubble Bubble on Jun 7, 2012 13:44:52 GMT 1, Beg to differ. For me, GWB works with space and sparsity of image. Don't hate this version but don't like it as much as the clean images.

OK I know this isn't a popular opinion here, but I think this is just flat out ugly. I would not want that on my wall. I'd take a GWB on a blank background over that any day. Just dreadful.

That's what makes the world spin 'round I suppose. I think the dreadful kitsch snow scene is part of the appeal (at least it is to me). If you look closely in the bottom right hand corner you can see two signatures, one from the artist who painted that snow scene and the other from Banksy who stenciled over it. Those vandalized oils tend to be most desirable to collectors based on auction prices which makes sense since it's as close to indoor graffiti as you'll get. It would have been even better to my eyes if that was a Thomas Kincade but that could well be too soon. I like it a lot but when I showed that photo to my wife, her thoughts tend to echo yours.
Fwiw, it is a new painting from this year as there seems to be some confusion above.

The sad truth is I'm feeling my age these days and that could well mean you love or hate it depending on who you're speaking with from where I come from. I suspect the latter but as I said I'm getting old.

Love that version. Much better than this one from last year imo:

Looks like he's still at it as well!

Banksy GWB Sotheby's June 27th, by Rude Copper on Jun 19, 2012 18:15:46 GMT 1, nasty indeed, years ago martyn numusic claimed banksy sent him a perfect explanation as to the meaning of gwb, a lot of "close sources" denounced it as bull, but i quite liked it, & have used it as the key to this image ever since. this work however totally goes in the face of the story, & for that reason i think that this is a horrible nasty scabby bit of shite, imho of course

Banksy GWB Sotheby's June 27th, by baznyc on Jun 19, 2012 21:07:40 GMT 1, Also seen the Sotheby's piece and if you want a rustic Banksy then this will tick the box. However if you like your art clean and sanitised then it's a thumbs down. Personally I think it's overpriced.

Banksy GWB Sotheby's June 27th, by johnnyh on Jun 27, 2012 18:41:31 GMT 1, Not being funny and a lovely piece but surely the original GWB was the first one. Possibly the second as taken and copied from a photo. So photo is the original. Banksy's first rendition must also be his original any thing after regardless of better or worse is a variation. Now could. Be an original on metal etc but not the original unless it's the first
