Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by tobaum on Feb 14, 2012 23:06:15 GMT 1, Nice to see some of the woodcuts getting framed. +1 to sanchorockin78 for being a rule breaker! Not so nice to see one ebay. -1 to ebay seller bruce6854. Looking forward to seeing more framed prints. It's a good year for Hirst spot fans with a wide range of prints in a variety of sizes and prices for everyone.
Not sure those prints are priced for everyone but indeed a good year!

Hehe, never realized he looks likes a millionaire born in a trailer park going through a midife crisis.. Rich boy wants to be bad boy.
Lve his work though... Maybe more as a status symbol then for intelligent creativity?

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by Zippy on Feb 16, 2012 12:03:29 GMT 1, Congrats to all those who got prints and woodcuts.
My advice (IMO) is to worry more about the glass you are using. Obviously use archival backing board and tape etc.. that goes without saying, but for those of you visiting framers, take a good look at the different glass options.
With these spots, I personally think it is important to be able to view them as close as possible to how they were produced.
So, maybe ask your framer to lay different glass samples over the spots (carefully!) so you can decide what glass manufacturer suits your piece best.
It may not be 'Museum' you like but more a 'True vue clear' glass as some Museum slightly mutes the colours.
I am not a 'glass expert' but I found it very intersting to see different manufactures products laid over a piece. It shows quite a variation in look.
Enjoy your new pieces and please post pictures once framed!
PS. I like the black one posted above. I do not think I would be that brave but its a lovely looking woodcut ;D

I don't know anything about different glass options but I would suspect if there are differences, those differences would behave differently under different lighting conditions. so it may be very different at the framers than when you have it back home. Might want to think about where it will hang and try check out the glass in similar lighting conditions. Just a thought.

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by Zippy on Feb 16, 2012 12:53:31 GMT 1, Very good point mmmike. Our homes are often dark compared to teh bright lights of a framers / shop. I'm soon to decorate at home - we've been there only 12 years and i have never painted it. Each crack and mark on the walls gets covered by another piece of art! I will look at lighting before i decorate as it will make a huge difference to how and where I hang certain pieces.

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by sanchorockin78 on Feb 16, 2012 14:44:14 GMT 1, Good food for thought mmmike & Zippy !. I too was going straight in with the standard museum grade. I think I may need some reflection control glass too as the piece is earmarked for a wall facing a window ?. All great advice and tips BTW

Damien Hirst Spot Prints, by johnnyh on Feb 16, 2012 16:37:21 GMT 1, Blu tack or Ikea always a safe bet. Drawing pins ok. My technique is a bit special with them just use the edges to impress but do not put the pins through the print as makes holes. Particularly with spots I like the multi colored pins as look like spots. However buy a big pack as remember no two spots the same so choose your pins carefully so as not to spoil the concept ;D ;D
Any one in need of further top tips Pm Johnny frame master. Note this is not a free service. PM's charged at ยฃ3 per word.

LOL, Top tip with the drawing pins ;D aesthetically more complimenting than a chunky box frame
