My Dog Sighs π¬π§ Portsmouth Street Artist β’ Paul Stone, by ryanoh1 on Oct 11, 2013 22:02:16 GMT 1, I've just been chatting to My Dog Sighs and it looks like he's going to announce his Bristol show next week.
Looks like he's moved on to spray and cider cans for it! He's buzzing on it and said they're the best he's produced yet. Something about super high quality paint and specialist brushes - every time I see his work I'm pretty certain it gets better - no disappointments here.
He sent me a few teaser pics which I convinced him to let me share wih a few forum friends and fans.
They look pretty special- always seems to come up with something fresh and takes things to another level - I'm loving these! He said the frames are going to contain the old spray caps rattling around inside too. Also heard he's done a set of 10 skateboards too.
Anyway - show opens 1st November at Upfest gallery, Bristol. Might be his last show in the UK for a while, as it sounds like he's also secured shows in New York and Chicago next year.
Here's a few teaser pics he sent me (for those who are thinking about going to the show then give me a PM and I can send you over a few more pics)...

My Dog Sighs π¬π§ Portsmouth Street Artist β’ Paul Stone, by watchmen on Oct 12, 2013 7:33:32 GMT 1, I'm loving those cans!
I've got a couple of rusty cans that I was lucky enough to find a while ago and I've met My Dog Sighs a few times, he's a top bloke.
I've got to say his work is getting better and better, good luck to him, I'll be popping to Upfest.

My Dog Sighs π¬π§ Portsmouth Street Artist β’ Paul Stone, by ryanoh1 on Oct 12, 2013 13:21:50 GMT 1, That's right- announcing the show next week, he didn't mind me giving people a heads up on here though as I know he's always valued the forum's support over the years and was happy for you guys to have a sneak peek of what's to come. Hope you enjoy.

My Dog Sighs π¬π§ Portsmouth Street Artist β’ Paul Stone, by UpFest on Oct 18, 2013 10:57:21 GMT 1, And so the show is announced!
Bristol dwellers and art lovers should keep their eyes peeled on Friday 1st November as urban artist My Dog Sighs will be bringing Free Art Friday to Bristol ahead of his 2013 exhibition at the Upfest gallery, North Street, Bristol.
Free Art Friday is a growing phenomenon, coined by My Dog Sighs over ten years ago, where artists leave their creations on the streets for the unsuspecting public to find and give a home. Painting on recycled materials is a signature of My Dog Sighsβ work, most recognisable is the staple food, drink and spray cans, which are twisted, crushed and hand painted. Each has its own character, be it melancholic clown or aggressive punk. Working with recyclable materials picked up on the streets, βBristol Canβ...βwill have a particular slant to celebrate the city, with works produced on cider and spray cans.
My Dog Sighs explains;
βMy focus for βBristol Can...β is using my association of Bristolβs street art scene as well as a tongue in cheek nod to cider drinking synonymous with the west country, using empty cans to create new pieces of art for the show. Upfest festival helped me to gain a new audience and confidence over the years, starting with a 4x4 board initially and culminating to creating a My Dog Sighs van this year. Free Art Friday was born from a desire to interact with the urban landscape and its inhabitants without impacting on them. The narrative is based on counterpointed poignancy that resonates with those that have the opportunity to find them.β
Throughout the city of Bristol the artist will be leaving highly collectable pieces on the streets on Friday 1st November, inviting people to find them and give these melancholic pieces a home. Artists all over the world have joined the movement over the last ten years, with Free Art Friday projects happening on four continents involving hundreds of artists creating pieces for the public to find.
In addition to the free art, My Dog Sighs will leave 100 cans with his design applied as a sticker throughout the week before the show. Anyone who picks one up must attend the gallery opening night, with one numbered can pulled from a hat later in the evening to win an origninal can
Lastly he will leave his mark permanently on the city with his new campaign to give every city he visits a hug, the βBristol Hugβ have already started to appear around the city, creating a street mural of his happy everyman character, designed to bring joy to the cities he visits.
Steve Hayles, Partner at Upfest Gallery explains; βAfter working quietly but fervently on the streets for the last ten years, honing his craft, My Dog Sighs was catapulted onto the gallery scene in 2011. His highly collectable work has already created sell out shows across the UK, US and Israel so we are very lucky to have him showing in Bristol.β
The Bristol Can⦠exhibition will lead an international release by the artist who has a selection of his iconic cans being released simultaneously by galleries in both New York & Chicago.
Join the chase and get clues for the can and art locations by following @upfest on twitter or like their facebook page www.facebook.com/Upfest.Bristol.

Please note; There will be no pre-sales before the launch (1st of November), if you would like to received a post launch PDF please email Emma@Upfest.co.uk
