Sickboy 'King of Undesire' print release, by sand on Feb 8, 2012 13:23:53 GMT 1, Sickboy has announced the release of his first limited edition print of 2012, entitled King of Undesire.
Subscribers may be familiar with the title of the release; King of Undesire is a print reproduction of one of the artist’s most accomplished paintings to date, which featured at his hugely successful 2011 major solo show, Heaven & Earth.
Produced in a highly-collectable run of 50, the print is as beautifully-detailed as its original counterpart and contains deeply personal narratives alongside the artist’s surrealist depictions of the world.
The stunning Giclee, 2-colour silkscreen print stands at an impressive 75 x 97 cm. Using oil-based archival inks alongside lovingly-applied details in 23kt gold leaf, the print’s luxurious finish on Cold Press Rough Textured Natural White 315gsm paper picks out the composition’s striking details using an enamel spot varnish which gives the print texture and dynamism.
Sickboy says: “King of Undesire has some reference points in Cubism, Pop Surrealism and Renaissance art, brought together in glorious spray-colours to exercise some visual advancements in ambiguous humour.”

Yep..a great piece!
Was def my fave painting from the show last year so i'm delighted it has been made into a HUGE print!
Framing won't be cheap!
I've gone for a 'hand finished special'.
I've kept the 'pre-order' link for e-mail subscribers a secret..just so anybody who is at work doesn't miss out in case it sells quickly.
I'm looking forward to receiving it in the post! ;D

Sickboy 'King of Undesire' print release, by sohohoho on Feb 8, 2012 13:48:28 GMT 1, Sand, how confident are you that the hand-finishing will justify the £100? I really can't see it myself. I wish there were detailed pics of it, or at least a description as to the extent. I'd be sorely disappointed if there were just a few splashes of paint. It's been done by many an artist before.

No idea to be honest..and i'm not sure the print really needs much hand finishing either!
I've asked if there any images of the hand finished variations..i'll post any images I receive if they have any on hand.
I thought i'd take a chance as most people know i'm a big sickboy fan and have always loved this image.
I've dealt with sickboy quite a few times and he's always come good..so we'll see what happens..

Sickboy 'King of Undesire' print release, by firstwords on Feb 8, 2012 14:20:29 GMT 1, It won't sell out though. Lord knows why. He rarely has a 'sell out.' It's beyond me. I commissioned an original from him back in 2007 so obviously I keep an eye on him. His work is outstanding and has vastly improved over the last 5 years. His shows are superb so why doesn't he shift much?
I guess we'll never know!

I wonder what the reaction to his upcoming show in the US will be like?!
He seems relatively unknown over there, I wonder if it will begin to create a new fan base a bit like when DFace + Nick Walker started exhibiting abroad.
Looking forward to seeing Sickboy paint some walls over in the US...
This looks promising:

Well there will be more cash washing around in the US over the next couple of years, that's for sure. Good luck to the lad I say.

Sickboy 'King of Undesire' print release, by rottenredrooster on Feb 8, 2012 15:13:14 GMT 1, Couldn't resist this one.
After seeing the canvases from his recent show, I was hoping that he would make a print out of one. It's refreshing to see an artist produce such a unique and detailed piece.
Surprised at the price too!

His recent print releases have all sold out. I'm not keen on the temples, prefer them on the street as opposed to paper... Not sure why his canvases haven't sold... Perhaps because he hasn't got an agent manipulating the market and making hype out of nothing.
His talent speaks for itself.

Sickboy always delivers and at good prices too

Sickboy 'King of Undesire' print release, by Coach on Feb 8, 2012 19:02:00 GMT 1, This looks like a terrific new print. Mind you, I am an unashamed fan of his work. I too do not understand why his originals do not sell out. I picked up this piece in a trade. I dont know what the purchase price was, but I know the value of the trade, and so I expect the price of originals is very reasonable.
There is a similar sized piece that is still for sale. See here
www.savetheyouth.co.uk/store/product/govindik/
If anyone is wavering, I would say go for it - these are lovely in the flesh, no framing costs, and my one just fills me with joy every time I look at it.
