Hi Guys

I'm wondering if anyone out there has a one-off Banksy painting or limited edition Banksy canvas or print that they may be looking to sell - possibly interested in a sculpture too.

I have access to a decent amount of cash and am looking to buy after the Easter holiday.

Please PM if you have something (preferably with PC COA but I may consider a street piece if documented/has some kind of real provenance).

Hi Fred, your money & all that but I wouldnt be putting it in street pieces provenance or not. I presume your up to speed with PC/Banksy's opinon on street piece sales.

Cheers for the advice. I kind of have a mixed opinion on Banksy 'street' pieces - I see the right/wrong of having one as well as the right/wrong of putting art on walls in the first place and then removing it.

I think I know Banksy's opinion on his sreet art being traded/removed but since PC don't issue COAs for such pieces, it's kind of a grey area.

Anyway - let's see what happens - pretty sure I won't be inundated with PMs anyhow...

No probs, I wouldnt really call street pieces a grey area if you look at how many were in Bonhams Urban Art action.. zero.

PS 'putting art on walls' used to be called Graffiti

I think Bonhams or any respectable Gallery/Auctioneer will no sell a work by Banksy without a PC cert. Although pre-PC era, I believe Bonhams did sell some items without certs.

I'm still searching for Banksys at the moment (although I guess the Bonhams' sale will be pushing prices up) - just my bad timing I guess.

Anyhow, in particular I'm interested in:

Kate Moss
Rude Copper (I saw one on here with a spray on it, not sure if it is still available)
Laugh Now canvas
Lenin on Rollerskates
Girl with Balloon
Olive Wood Palestinian tower statue
Original documented street art by Banksy
Any other originals/rare APs or rare prints

I do have a decent chunk of change available at the moment so looking to purchase in the next couple of weeks so if you think you have anything of interest, please get in touch.

A rare authenticated street piece by MrB which is on ebay and could be worth a cheeky offer is the safe with rats...

They've been trying to sell this for over two years now and is worth a punt if your pockets are deep enough.

I've had my eye on this piece but Adrian Green***, whatever his name is, are pretty determined to receive this same price (60k) they've been advertising for 2 years...

The major problem with the piece is how to dosplay it - you can't exactly hang it from a wall and it weighs a right ton. One further problem is the paint is beginning to peel and with cold winters and warm summers in the UK, it's a matter of time before the stencil art gets affected by these temperatures/moisture changes...

Laz have some great Banksy pieces - not shown on their website - if you have some serious money to spend. Give them a call, with a bit of negotiation from you, they may want to start off the new financial year with a 'good' sale.

I think I'm going to ring them on Tuesday - was going to ask them if Banksy does commissions... Although who know what sort of price the guy charges. I figure that it's easier to give the money to the artist who loses out on the second-hand market - ALTHOUGH I am still looking around at the moment.

What happened to the days where you could spend 20k for a canvas? All these seri-canvases and people are asking 35k+ - mental!

£20k for a canvas - Those days have been gone for a long time now, unless you can find a Lenin, even then I would warrant a guess at £30k +

Laz and Banksy parted company sometime ago so unlikely to get anything new from them. When I enquirer about a year ago starting prices were circa £40k for a new piece

As far as I am aware, Laz and PC do NOT have a good relationship at the moment... so it'll be interesting when I speak with them next week as to which pieces have COAs from them and which come with a COA from Laz himself. And let's afce it, the strength in the market relying almost 100% on having a PC COA, almost more than the artwork itself...

What you're implying there holds no water whatsoever.

Disagree DDog - at the end of the day the majority of collectors will not purchase prints/artwork by Banksy without its Pest Control certificate i.e. if I have a Radar Rat without a PC COA, I am less likely to sell than with one. I might be offered 2k for it without a COA but with, I'll achieve a 15k asking price.

Do you think galleries are going to take on works of Banksy without a PC COA or how about his street art? NOPE, I don't think so - the PC COA is ESSENTIAL for just about any sale thereby placing a hell of a lot more value on that than the piece itself.

They may not be on the best of terms, but most will have COA already. The barcode AP that I bought from Laz last year had one. If you go back to pre pest control you got a coa letter from Laz so there are a lot of pieces with is name against them rather than pest control. He is one dealer I wouldn't have a concern about buying without coa

1) Genuine Rat print for shizzy and people DO demand a PC cert as I am sure you would when buying a genuine Banksy piece

2) I am aware of, but cannot disclose, at least two situations where PC and Laz have had disputes regarding PC certification - one only last month.

Nonesense, absolute nonesense. An RR without a COA is worth much the same. There's maybe a 100-200 quid difference. The cost of getting the COA and covering the time to do it. What is far more ESSENTIAL is traceable provenance back to source.

On the other hand, a street piece without PC approval is worth precisly what someone is willing to risk on it. Which is generally nothing, or maybe a couple of hundred quid according to past ebay sales of dodgy street signs etc.
