Herakut :: 'After the Laughter'
February 25th - March 17th, 2012
Artist Reception: Saturday, February 25th, 6-10pm
German art duo Herakut and LeBasse Projects: Chinatown proudly present 'AFTER THE LAUGHTER.' The exhibition will feature a new series of sculptures, photography and wall installations by the artists. In conjunction with the opening, Herakut will also be releasing their second book also titled 'After the Laughter' - with a signing from 6-7pm.
After a period of producing a series of work on canvas and exhibiting in 'white wall' style exhibitions, Herakut returns to an approach like their early years in presenting a fully immersive installation. The installation will be further enhanced by live performances by dancers and performers dressed in costumes built and designed by Herakut.

- Great scene...crowd, performance artists, gallery staff, Hera & Akut, etc.
- Great art...never seen a Herakut OG in person...the depth and emotion in the pieces (as well as the way they seemed to change depending on where you were standing) was incredible...pretty sure it wasn't just the wine
- The vietnamese food across the street was amazing
By the time we got there many of the pieces (and all the books) were sold. There were a number of smaller OGs at very reasonable prices that were not in the preview...one at $750 that we would have snapped up in a heartbeat had it not been sold.
Anyway, congrats to LeBasse for a very well put on event...we had a great time and after meeting the artists and seeing their work in person, will definitely be on the lookout for the right piece for our home.
