WTB: Charming Baker Bird or Bird ii , by simonf on Aug 13, 2011 17:09:04 GMT 1, Thanks for the input, you say ยฃ400
But I just looked at your site, and actually you're charging ยฃ500 for one of the rabbits... which is double the normal price of ยฃ250.
So my apologies, I genuinely did not realised the A/P "premium" you mention is normally 100% more that the cost of a standard print.
thank you for taking the time to explain it to me - much appreciated

WTB: Charming Baker Bird or Bird ii , by Ottomatik on Aug 13, 2011 18:23:13 GMT 1, The one that is ยฃ500 is sold out on all the CB sites. The one for ยฃ400 is not. However, I'm still not sure that an A/P written in pencil instead of a 1/200 in pencil is worth an extra ยฃ150. it seems the AP edition is no different that the numbered edition.

However I would choose AP everytime if priced as the main edition.

WTB: Charming Baker Bird or Bird ii , by migmat on Aug 13, 2011 23:51:14 GMT 1, The convention, in a properly run print studio, is that a number of artist's proofs are produced as part of the main edition run. The number is normally 10% of the numbered edition. E.g. 10 APs are made as part of a limited edition of 100. Artist's proofs are intended to be the property of the artist as opposed to the publisher, gallery or print studio who usually own the rest of the edition. The artist can then give them away, sell them or just keep them under the bed. Often they will be sold by the publisher or gallery, in addition to the rest of the edition, on behalf of the artist. An AP, then, is normally exactly the same as the numbered edition as it is produced in the same print run. The only difference is that AP is written in pencil in place of an edition number. There may be other ppoofs made in the proofing/development stages of a print edition which are different to the main edition. These are not generally sold. Hope this is helpful. Migmat

However, most artist make the AP editions to be different than the regular edition. For example, all of my Miss Bugs are like the numbered edition, but they have different color schemes. Also, most of Banksys' AP editions are different color schemes than the numbered editions.

Either way, traditionally they meant something... now its generally just a way to make more money

WTB: Charming Baker Bird or Bird ii , by hlarmy on Aug 14, 2011 10:24:16 GMT 1, i'm interested cos I bought an A/p from Art Republic and was wondering by how much I've been overcharged lol it is a gorgeous print though... can't wait to get it on the wall How much were the AP's? Do you have a pic of it? Be good to see the hand work.
The AP's were sold at the same price as the numbered edition; I picked up my AP for ยฃ250, which seems like a good price now! I believe it's identical to the numbered edition, but like Rsyok and probably most collectors, would rather have the AP any day...
