DFace • Going Nowhere Fast, by stillborncrisps on Oct 16, 2011 0:28:51 GMT 1, I totally missed the timing of the drop anyway, but I think anything less than 5 mins to register and check out is pretty unprofessional. A lot of sites are 20 mins.
Being as it was though, StolenSpace should've advised the requirement to register in the email (the one announcing it will be dropped at a random time/day). Aside from anything else that was a prime marketing opportunity missed by them.
cktbreaker - to say logging in beforehand 'is standard procedure' is a bit unrealistic and unkind - StolenSpace wouldn't even say what DAY it was gonna be released let alone time - when were peeps meant to log in?
Add this release to the previous D*Face release fiasco (2 colour way Kiss prints being allocated 2 per customer), it's all getting a bit sloppy at StolenSpace really.

Sorry if my comment stepped on your toes, but I would think that if a print was being released today at 11am in person at the fair, one might login to the site and set their browser to hit the site on a regular interval as to alert them to the drop occuring since there was no time or date of release posted. Other than this I don't know how anyone would get this print online. I guess the other alternative would be to hit UA to see if someone who was doing this had posted that the print is available.

Don't think I'd wanna stand in a cold queue for hours and make a profit of £40 once the eBay fees are taken out! I guess if people really want the print then at that price it's affordable compared to cost. I didn't bother with this release at all personally!

And there's another 7 on ebay who will all start to undercut each others prices soon!
Best time to buy I reckon! ;D

DFace • Going Nowhere Fast, by gibbin82 on Oct 16, 2011 11:07:54 GMT 1, Although I despise blatant flipping, IMO I think we sometimes come down a little hard on the chancers who only register to try to make a quick profit on a first attempt, when we have respected members who regularly offer recent releases to the forum at the same time as as they have them on eBay. I know at least one on here who has hundreds of prints offering many not long after release and even hawks them by pm before they have them in their hands (once I had a release offered within a few hours of the item selling out, while the seller also had another on eBay, long before the artist had sent them out)
The chancers show their inexperience and naively by offering them here for hugely inflated prices with lame excuses and get crucified, while the professionals on here are a lot more clever and make a business of it. while we post saying there is some nice pieces there. When it comes down to it I know who is going to be more of a threat to me of missing out on the next release that I really want.
Maybe it would be good for the forum if the Mods changed the rules so new members couldn't post in the for sale section until they had made a certain number of posts and been registered for a certain length of time, while at the same time limit the rest of us to only being able to start a certain number of new for sale posts within a set time.

agree. and i've said this before, if people didn't sell then no-one but the original owners would get to enjoy the art. when people sell, folks all over the world, not just london, have a chance to get it.
as you said, perhaps coming on here and making excuses (wife hates it, etc) and trying to gouge members is just them being a bit naive, but i will never come down on someone for making money.

It is not wasteful when said forum member was not successful in acquiring the print in question. It could be that said forum member lives in another country and could not attend the que. As well as.....said forum member may not have thought of a registration needed to allow the purchase of said print for the online release. In this present economy, everyone should be using a calculator to count every penny/pence you lose while dealing with the secondary art market.
As collectors we should always have a watchful eye on price histories of items we covet. I can assure you, the flippers are.
So, there is no need to be snide. Have a look at the bigger picture once and awhile.
