His iconic images reflect an incredible vision and skill. His work will soon be available on canvas via www.legendecelebrityart.com Distributed by Tubemogul.''
WHAT THE FUCK, this has got to be some kind of wind up, the kid looks like he should work in TopShop, and have a pretty blonde haired virgin girlfriend that only lets him play with her tits on Sundays.

Rich Simmons π¬π§ Pop Art β’ Street Artist β’ Print Release , by sohohoho on Jun 18, 2011 9:10:16 GMT 1, "Now if you imagine Banksy, his pieces are generally about 20-30 pieces cut out per stencil, that's on average. My pieces on average are between 2-500 individual little pieces cut out to create that kid of detail."
haha. well that's nothing to brag about is it? just proves your wasting your time. he sounds like he's on dragons den, miserably failing to sell himself and his innovative three layer stencils lol. just what we need, another derivative stencil "artist". don't forget the drips!

Oh god please don't bring cartrain into this...this is a new all time low for street art. The thought of a Rich Simmons and Cartrain in the same context makes me want to die.
Although I would love the comic value of a Rich Simmons vs Cartrain show.
Sometimes I wish photoshop hadnt been invented

Rich Simmons π¬π§ Pop Art β’ Street Artist β’ Print Release , by Agent Provocateur on Jun 21, 2011 18:52:08 GMT 1, Interesting... only heard about the Opera gallery show at the weekend and just managed to download the pdf with all the works, surprised no one's mentioned the TMA Taj Mahal canvas in it (unless that's old news... which it probably is!).
That's getting away from the point... I'd never heard of Richard Simmons before either, so it was interesting to see his work in the same show. Here's his write-up from the pdf.
RICH SIMMONS Rich Simmons (1986 - ) is part of a new wave of street artists emerging from the UK. He uses an intricately detailed stencil style to convey his irreverent sense of humour. His self imposed mission to change peoples views on different subject matters stems from an autistic background in which Simmons had to communicate his thoughts on the world through visual channels. He became a global name after creating a piece of work depicting Prince William and Kate Middleton as Sid and Nancy from the Sex Pistols. This βFuture ***Kingβ piece created a media stir on every continent and made people aware of the Simmonsβ style of work and ability to create iconic imagery. He also founded an art therapy movement, Art Is The Cure, in 2008 to help other people find a cure to problems in a similar way that the artist himself did. A goal to inspire and a dark past have culminated in an exciting artist who is creating work that clearly portrays this personal struggle. His work demonstrates the questions of self-worth, pressures of society and a twisted sense of humour. The result is a style that is dividing peoplesβ reactions between shock, laughter and new perceptions of the world.
His Art Is The Cure website rang a bell as well, and after a quick squiz round the site reminded me I'd painted by two of the people involved, Graham Lawrie (AITC Managing Director) and I'm not sure who the other guy was... but it could have been Richard Simmons. They did the drippy, organic, red and purple abstract piece with lots of small skulls at the back of the car park opposite the Tobacco Factory!?
Anyways, you live and learn... interesting how his profile has suddenly jumped to 'a global name' and he's 'created a stir across every continent'!

Yes, now herein lies my problem too. First I dont think his work is very good. But that is just imo of course. Second I dont like all the pompous bragging - Banksy uses this many layers...... but I use so many layers...... Third, where is the ground work, the building up of talent, and awareness, the graft, etc? ..... unless I am mistaken, he seems to have barged into the limelight. Just my 2p.

Yup, I thought his stencils looked well executed too. I don't think his work looks too original, beautiful or thought-provoking, but he clearly has some skills imo.

Lots of people have talent. There are machines that can do the cutting much more detailed than this guy, So I'm not overly impressed. Imagination and creativity is another story. Not sure I see much of that here.

yeah exactly what i meant it looks like he is just doing it for the fame and attention which personally i dont think street art should be about fame is just a by product of the work. and mike you cant say those stencils aren't impressive as if you have ever tried stencil graffiti you know how hard it can be (my pointing finger on my cutting hand is now i think permanently damaged from the cutting process)

Rich Simmons π¬π§ Pop Art β’ Street Artist β’ Print Release , by connecta1 on Jun 23, 2011 17:54:18 GMT 1, ...his skills with a scalpel aside, i just don't get how putting up images of Einstein, Monroe, Bob Marley or whoever ad infinitum (images that someone else clearly took originally) is making any sort of commentary or putting any sort of artistic spin on them in any way
Whether you like Banksy or not, there's always have some kind of driving concept... this guy's just a spraycan photocopier
