Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by skitchy on May 4, 2011 12:00:48 GMT 1, Wonder if the East Europeans with the big doggies will make an appearance, it will be feckin chaos thats for sure.
Its the South American Gangs to watch out for! They don't even know who banksy is but somehow happen to be standing the a queue with a lot of cash.
In response to Jboy- the image.. as a hand painted image its well executed, however subject wise if any other artist other than banksy (or MBW pfff) did the whole tesco value thing (again) no one would be interested or give it the time of day.
Saying that it's deff a nice little addition to any banksy collection!
other than NBW and CYW think this must be the first time banksy has released anything hard copy since bristol museum? maybe theres more on the way?

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by jakek on May 4, 2011 14:29:43 GMT 1, I think a lot of people are getting over excited by these and missing the point.
As you'll have seen there were riots in Stokes Croft about the new Tesco opening there, add in to the mix a few issues about police violence and squatter evictions and there are a few issues on the go in the area, wich describes itself as Bristol's cultural quarter (http://www.prsc.org.uk/)
Banksy will no doubt have seen this and decided to do a quick painting that can be mass produced and sold to raise funds for the PRSC.
The image is a twist on his soup can print with a nod to the fact the riots were started when police raided the squats after being tipped off there were petrol bombs being allegedly being prepared there. I find it interesting that the style is unlike any of his other works - it's not like his sketches, stencils or oils - which is why i'd suggest thihas been knocked up quickly as a favour to all his mates down in Stokes Croft.
As for queues and riots to get them - there is no way that's going to happen. It's a £5 print and they'll have printed 1000s knowing that people will want them as a memento of the day, of the riots, of bristol or becase they like banksy. No doubt there will be a few chancers buying loads to flog on ebay for a profit but i guess there will be enough people trying to do that the market will find it's own value of a tenner or so. POW aren't trying to cause problems by annoucing it - they're helping to raise awareness of a ause Banksy believes in.
I live in Bristol but i'm away for the weekend so won't be able to pick any up, but to everyone on here asking for one...do you REALLY want one? what are you going to do with it? does it mean anything personal to you? are you going to frame it and hang it?
I can't believe everyone asking for one is going to display it - and if it's just so you can have a bit of banksy on the wall there are better, cheaper options. There are still the Banksy V Bristol Museum posters available at POW. I just think these will be like the Time Out posters, sitting in people's portfolios.
